Templates are not applied to new stories when selected depending on how new story is created.

PROBLEM -

Our organization has Jira templates available for anyone creating a new story.   The template sets some fields and  provides some instruction on how to format acceptance criteria.

When you have an existing issue opened in Jira, then click the Create Linked Issue link to create a new story, the selected template does not get applied to the form for the new story.

However if you create a new story by clicking the Create button, the template will be applied when it is selected in the new story.

STEPS TO RECREATE - 

Open an existing bug.
Click the + button in the Linked Issues section.
Click the Create Linked Issue link.
Change the Type to Story.
Select a template.  The template will not be applied.

Thank you for the clear explanation of the Problem.

From the explanation, It looks like a bug from the Plugin that you are using for Templates.

Reach out to the Vendor / check the release notes if there is a bug created for it already.
