Moving to Cloud is leading to lot of questions

Mackowiak August 14, 2024

Hello,

I'm moving to Cloud and some Apps seems to be 'hard to move'.

Specialy Jeditor which spread about everywhere  Description, comments, custom fieds and set his own storing method and moreover the attachments are not stored with standard location.

Regards,

Hey @Mackowiak ,

Do you have any specific questions?

Migrating to Cloud is a bit of an undertaking and does require a lot of analysis.

For example, JEditor does not have a Cloud version at the time so that will not be possible to migrate. You can always reach out to the vendor to see what path they are proposing.

Hey Dirk,

For sure, I've contacted the provider and they send me 6 node.js script to run regarding description, comments, history, custom fields and attachments but it's really heavy and risky jobs.

My question is more about finding a method in order to follow the migration, i mean, i have roughly 100 projects to MOVE, 200 who should STAY where they are, 50 should be ARCHIVED.

My Idea is to create table inside Jira schema called migration-project-status where we would have 350 rows, one by project, with column 'Scenario' = MOVE/STAY/ARCH

A table would be convenient as many search are done via Sql, i mean search of the automation needed by MOVE projects, search Jeditor project through
MOVE project, etc.. So I could built sql where migration-project-status = 'TOMOVE'

This new table would also propose a status 'TOMOVE' --> 'MOVED' , TOARCH, ARCHIVED etc .

Any comment is welcome.

Regards,
