How many terms have other teams uploaded into the Smart Terms plugin? We have almost 1200 (that we imported via CSV).
The plugin still works (though it takes about 10 seconds for the highlighting to show up on each page), but since the import we can no longer add new terms. Tried both methods (directly adding a new term, vs importing a CSV of new terms), but in both cases the progress bar/wheel just churns indefinitely (we gave up after 30 mins). Has anyone else had the same experience?
@Rego Sen your post from last year, did you get an assistance from the vendor; as we are considering the plug-in, but we have a very large enterprise DC instance. 60K+Users
We did, they acknowledged some need for improvement and released a new version, but it was still too problematic for us so we turned it back off. Some observations:
1. The performance issues correlate not just with the amount of text in a page, but also to the number of terms+abbreviations+synonyms in our dictionary. (We have over 1000 of them.) I don't know if/how the number of users would affect it.
2. Keeping the plug-in active but disabling term highlighting made the biggest difference. It brought down load times on our most difficult pages from 30-40s down to 8-9 seconds
3. The plug-in seems to perform the worst on pages with embedded text, such as embedded Google spreadsheets.
If you find a more performant plug-in, I'd be happy to evaluate it!
