How do I find a better place to leave my scripts for the community?

Volodymyr December 4, 2023

Hi there,
I need advice from the community.
How and where is the best place to leave my custom scripts that I wrote in 1.5 years of using Scriptrunner?
I coded about 30 scripts for projects that requested non-standard functionality, so I want to share this with people who might need this information. I know that support for "Server" version is about to come to an end, but all the scripts can be used for "Data Center" and changed if needed.
Thank you.

edit:

I've created a separate discussion where all my scripts will be located:

I think the best location would be writing an article to the Jira section (if the script is specific to Jira): https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/bg-p/jira-articles

Those articles are very visible, correctly indexed and ranked by Google.

Thanks for the tip. I think this is one of the best places to post my scripts, but I don't have access to writing articles, so I'll use this article to see what is best.

Is GitHub an option?

Volodymyr December 10, 2023

@Judah
I thought about this option, but would like to leave the scripts in a place that is used by other JIRA admins. Specifically for those who are new to Scriptrunner (when I started my journey as a JIRA admin, I rarely looked at articles on GitHub.)

@Volodymyr  Sounds like you and I have had a similar journey with ScriptRunner and Jira administration. I have also built up a large repo of scripts for Jira DC. Would love to see where yours end up, maybe I'll try the same thing.

@Volodymyr I love that you want to share your ScriptRunner Scripts with all users!

I am a Senior Customer Success Manager for ScriptRunner and we just released the ability to access Script examples from our Script Library with the latest version of ScriptRunner for Jira DC (Coming to ScriptRunner for Cloud soon!). More information on this release can be found here.

With that said we would love to review your scripts and potentially add them to our library for other users to be able to access directly within ScriptRunner.

Feel free to reach out to customersuccess@scriptrunnerhq.com so we can coordinate this if you're interested.

@Brandon Chin

Not a problem. I'm not a developer but an amateur, so I want to share with everyone what I've been able to accomplish while coding unique requests for Scriptrunner.

I think I'll create a new discussion where I will briefly describe the situation and add every script as a new comment. I'm assuming comments in my scripts can describe themselves, and users will be able to understand and modify them if necessary.

This post will be updated, so others can see the result.

@Volodymyr Thanks for sharing this! I'm sure this will help a lot of other ScriptRunner users!

I would also love to get your feedback on ScriptRunner. Feel free to reach out to customersuccess@scriptrunnerhq.com to share how we can improve and any ideas you have to make ScriptRunner better! Have you had the chance to use HAPI? Any thoughts on how to make ScriptRunner easier for others to learn?
