Hi Atlassian Community!!
Have you ever browsed the Atlassian Marketplace, clicked on an app, peeked at some reviews and thought… ”Wow, that review is super helpful. They must really like the product!” Or maybe you came across one and thought, “This doesn’t make sense. Why is this a review?”
We understand your joy and your frustration, as do the app vendors. Which is why in the spirt of this month’s community badge, we thought we’d share some best practices about what makes a helpful Marketplace app review!
One good way to think about reviews is to consider what information you’d like to learn from a fellow customer about an app.
Did it solve for a use-case?
Did it have any missing functionality?
Are they happy with the level of support?
Was there good documentation? Was it easy to set up?
Are they happy overall with the product?
How long have they been using it?
Did they decide to leave? Why?
It’s also helpful to consider what is not helpful in a review
Two word reviews
Support inquiries
Wrong product (or wrong deployment)
Other – let us know in the comments!
All this information is helpful to both your fellow app customers and the app vendors themselves. Reviews give vendors the ability to gauge their overall customer satisfaction and learn where they need to improve. Help us add to the list of best practices by leaving your thoughts in the comments below. What do you look for in an app review that you wish most people knew?
