AI-Powered Content Formatting for Confluence with Morph

Here’s the scenario: You’re creating a Confluence page filled with raw text, different FAQs, steps, you name it. Writing the content is quite challenging, but nothing compared to properly formatting it. How much time will it take me to format the page? Which macro should I use for each section? Tabs or Expanders? Panels or Bullet Points? Too many questions to consider… too little time.

Sure you can work with pre-built Confluence templates to quickly get started, but still you need to further fine tune them to meet your needs.

If only there’s an app that helps me avoid repetitive formatting tasks, save me time, and choose the right macros for me. Well there is one now. Introducing Morph: AI-Powered Content Formatting for Confluence Cloud.

What’s Morph?

Morph is your AI-powered content formatting buddy designed to streamline your work on Confluence pages. It takes raw, unstructured content and transforms it into polished, well-formatted pages with the right macros applied—all with a simple click.

Why Morph?

  • Save Time:

Let’s say you’re working on an onboarding page for new hires. The page will consist of multiple steps, instructions, and especially, FAQs. You’ve already used bullet points for each section, but we all know this is not the proper way to format your page. Obviously, you’ll use macros. Now imagine the page has 5 steps, 10 instructions, and 50 questions and answers.

Do the math: Progress bar macro for the five steps, 1 tab group and 10 tab panes for instructions, and 50 expands for FAQs: That’s 62 macros.

You can insert each macro individually by typing /Expand, for example, and copy paste. That’s easily an hour of your time, and no one has time for that. Not ideal and definitely frustrating.

Here Morph does the heavy lifting for you and turns that hour into one simple click. Just feed the raw text into Morph, and watch it transform into a well-structured page with the right macros applied.

  • Reduce Repetitive Formatting Tasks:

If you find yourself typing Ctrl C and Ctrl  V all day, there’s something wrong. No one enjoys repeating the same formatting actions over and over again. You may say I can do it once and save it as a template. Sure, but even with templates there's too much unnecessary copying and pasting.

With Morph, you can avoid repetitive tasks altogether. Simply create your content and hit Morph.

  • Choose the Right Macros:

Which macro should I use here? Is it better to insert tabs or expanders? Expanders or panels? More often than not, we end up misusing macros—like using expanders for long content instead of Tabs, or plain text links when buttons would make the content stand out more.

Choosing the right macro isn’t always straightforward. Some might appear as serving the same purpose: They’re not. This is why you need a solid understanding of how each macro works, its benefits, and the best practices for when to use them.

That’s where Morph comes into play. Think of it as your intelligent assistant that helps you choose the right macro for the right type of content and page.

If your page contains a list of FAQs, Morph knows expanders are your best option to properly organize them. Working on a process or steps guide? Morph will suggest tabs or a progress bar to give readers a clear, structured view of what’s coming next. Detailed sections? Tabs. And the list goes on.

  • Works with both Confluence & Vectors Formatting Macros:

Confluence is great on its own, but we can always build on it. And the perfect page is a blend of built-in and third party macros. Let’s take the example of a Marketing plan. You’ve got your plan in plain text and you want to properly organize it. Morph can suggest the perfect mix of Confluence and Vectors macros. Tabs for overviews, expanders for detailed steps, and panels to highlight critical information. It works seamlessly with all the macros you're already familiar with, giving you flexibility to structure your pages your way.

How to get started with Morph?

In three simple words? Create, Publish, and MORPH!

That’s it really. You create your Confluence page… You publish it, and then you MORPH it.

Let’s take a practical example. Here, I have a simple onboarding page that consists of a list of steps and questions. The content is unstructured with only bullet points used.

Once you hit Morph, magic happens. First, The steps are properly portrayed on top of the page with a progress bar.

Then the detailed steps for days, weeks, and months are organized using tabs allowing for easier navigation.

Next, Morph tackles the list of questions. Instead of leaving them as bullet points, it groups them within expanders. This macro gives users the freedom to show or hide each question, providing a cleaner look and allowing readers to focus only on the questions they’re interested in.

And there you have it. Morph helps you properly format your Confluence pages with the click of a button and focus on what really matters: Creating valuable content.

Morph is currently available on Atlassian Marketplace as a beta app just in time for Atlassian Team Europe 24 😀.  We encourage you to give it a try and if you happen to be in Barcelona, make sure to swing by our booth for a live demo.
