Ah, ok. Well, I have to agree with Jobin - I wouldn't try it. It's on the left for good reasons:

  1. Users need quick access to it's content, which good design practice says lands on the top or left hand side of pages (for languages that read top to bottom and left to right at least)
  2. The issue navigator is variable width, and if you add a lot of fields, it can easily expand over the whole available screen. Users will naturally place the most important fields on the left, so having the important controls on the right hand side, potentially off-screen for some people, is a bad idea
  3. Your request to move it to the top is potentially a bad idea. If you know that the panel will only ever contain data that is short enough to fit, then moving it to the top is fine. But count the fields and think about how much of a top panel they will take up. And bear in mind that as you add custom fields, it's going to get longer. You could rapidly end up with an issue navigator "search" panel taking up the whole of the screen and the users having to scroll pages down to see the results. I'm not saying you should not do this though, just that if you are, you will need to think about usability and probably come up with a completely different way to handle all the options (which I suspect means rewriting quite a lot of Atlassian's code around that area)

I do like Jobin's show/hide suggestion though - the ability for the users to swipe it out of the way when they don't need it would be quite nice. Sounds like a speakeasy extension there!

If you are talking about the search criteria on the left, I wouldn't touch it!

However, I hope Atlassian comes up with a simple toggle button to remove that panel (like they have in confluence to display/remove the sidebar)!

Ahh, I'm still in front of a 4.0 install. Thanks Jobin!

I just noticed that the toggle option is already there! I had to look at the page source to find it though !!

It is there in 4.2+ :)

When i click issues , i am talking about the Issue navigator on the left ( the one containing followings TABS :Summary ,new,Manage ; Search btn , query text...)

and in the content there is by default

(The Issue Navigator allows you to browse all the issues in the system. Filters allow you to limit the issues that you see...)

I need to move the position to the top of the content in the middle of the page ..and to customise it

Which panels are you asking about? The issue navigator is really just the list of issues, and has no panels. Are you talking about the search defintion, or something else?
