Tracking progress to Original Plan

Hi There:

I wanted to reach out to you, to see if you could provide any insights on how to address the challenge I now have?

I’m currently doing work for my client, Bell Canada, who has been an Atlassian customer for .. ever.

I have been working with our team to use Advanced Roadmaps in the delivery of our Projects which are focused on decommissioning existing legacy systems, transitioning the users into a newly developed application.

As there is very high recurring costs to keep these legacy systems in place, it is critical that we are able to develop a plan for the systems shut down and then be able to manage the plan through to completion, providing our management team with realistic progress reports and explanations on why we might be .. slipping.

In using Advanced Roadmaps to meet our challenge we need to:

  1. Develop our Plan for delivering our project - the Initial Roadmap, with a proposed start and end date for our activity - we are good here Advanced Roadmap works great for this.

  1. Track the overall progress, current status of our Plan, and where we are no longer on time, identify why.

This is where I'm challenged to provide a view that shows why the completion of the initiative is late.  Identifying if the delay is due to;

  1. Feature Story Points growing from original size
  2. Feature delivery just taking more time than expected, but, still estimated to the same number of Story Points.
  3. New Features Identified.

Somehow I need to be able to capture the original .. Plan .. and then identify what has .. changed, then allowing us to analyze .. why.

Thanks, for any insights you might be able to provide.

NOTE:  I added some more details above .. I assuming others may have this same challenge.. Thanks for any insights you might be able to provide.
