Agree with this - it's not built in to the tool because this isn't how the tool was designed to be used. Zapier has a Digest function that can collect new cards on a Trello list and release them. This template is for releasing to Slack, but you could swap it out with email: https://zapier.com/app/editor/template/13972 But…

Curious on what the use case is where copying a few tiny URLs would not suffice... Confluence will keep its own internal links up to date provided you are using the [page title] style linking are not pasting raw URLs back in to Confluence. At any rate, this is a User Macro that will print the entire page tree for a space…

You can use the tiny URL in the Share menu for this purpose - it's static! The tiny URL is based on the page id. This doesn't change even if the page title changes. Clicking the Share button in the upper right on the view screen will bring up the dialogue, or you can use the s keyboard shortcut on the view page. Cheers,…

Hi Kedar, It's likely that the application link you've got between Confluence and your Jira server was set up using Trusted or Basic auth. Those application link types aren't supported anymore and you'll want to switch them over to OAuth. If you're logged in to an account that has sysadmin privileges in both Jira and…

Hi Eric, I haven't seen (or realized I was seeing) ads for Stride or other applications on my Cloud accounts. While you can't do this for accounts en masse, users are able to disable the survey emails that go out from time to time. Point them at https://comms.atlassian.io/ and they can opt out of some or all…

Hi Penny, Unfortunately only the mobile apps (iOS and Android) support offline mode (documentation reference). It is on the list of possible future features for desktop applications though. Cheers, Daniel

Thanks so much for this article @Jodi LeBlanc! I've been in a life-clutter rut for a few weeks and this was the impetus to start getting organized last night. Still a long way to go, but got enough taken care of that the rest could all be done in a day or tackle one or two items every morning before work.

We're happy Scroll ImageMap users! Are there any plans to open-source Conversations for Server? We'd love to use it but are interested in merging the video panel with the regular bottom toolbar until a call is started.

Hi David, There are many Agile plugins - can you link to which one on Atlassian Marketplace? Or do you mean Jira Software (used to be called JIRA Agile on Jira 6.4 and lower)? Based on the trouble you're having, I would encourage you to open a support ticket with Atlassian at https://support.atlassian.com/contact or…

I don't think you need business class to do what you're trying to accomplish (unless you need more Power-Ups - sounds like you do want the Voting Power-Ups which means you'd need to upgrade if you wanted to use any more Power-Ups on that board). Using Zapier to submit cards gets you the restrictions you want, but also…

Hi Jessica, Trello doesn't allow non-members of a board to create cards. These are the permissions you can assign for non-members in your board settings: * View the board and cards * Vote (using the Voting Power-Up) * Comment on cards If you want people to create cards, they'll need to join the board by being invited,…

Tableau is a bit of a pain because most of the views you'll create need to be exported regularly. And it's expensive, so you've either got a tradeoff of "lots of people with expensive licenses" to view directly from the Tableau server or "the view is always out of date". Add to the frustration of many browsers not…

Hey Brian! There are two things necessary to get Confluence working correctly behind a proxy. * As you noted, server.xml needs to be modified. I wouldn't uncomment the HTTPS connector in server.xml. That section is for having Tomcat terminate SSL, which is something you'd be better off doing in HAProxy. You just need to…

Yes, you can set a board so that only board admins can edit/create cards but still allow people to comment (or vote, using the Voting Power-Up). * The board needs to be Public. If it's private, change it to Public: * Set the Commenting permissions to Public: * If the board is in a team, you'll need to click this option…

This is a great article to show non-development teams how they can use Jira and Confluence to make their lives easier. Thanks for writing it up!

Hi Anthony! You can do this using the request-channel-type field in JQL. As of this answer, the field isn't selectable in a Basic search. You'll need to switch to an Advanced/JQL search to use it. Requests via email: request-channel-type = email Requests via customer portal: request-channel-type = portal Requests created…

Ah, that's awesome! I love being able to see people's locations. Thanks for building that out!

Bill Gates was born in Seattle, and apparently Steve Ballmer now lives in Farmington Hills (outside Detroit)! Can the AUG team pull some levers and get him to come to my next User Group?

Hurray! I'm glad to see engagement from MCB, and I'm sure he and Scott have better dancing skills than this :) Super glad we're able to attach gifs and screenshots a lot easier than a year ago, and that posts are working well, and that it's gotten easy enough to submit answers that you can format and screenshot away to…

Woohoo! High-five for a party well done: Nice to see familiar faces! Feel free to come Community Party at our AUGs anytime :)

Hi Chandra, Changing the base URL in Jira is only one of many things you'll need to do. Please follow the documentation we've linked above. If you still have issues, please let us know what reverse proxy you're using.

Hmm. After thinking about this a little more on the way in to the office this morning (ahh, zen highway driving) it seems prudent to make another generic suggestion. If you're finding this is a big enough issue that you want to spend money on it, Wittified (creators of many "delegated administration"-type plugins) could be…

Hi Thomas, That's my understanding after reading how git stores submodules - locally they are subdirectories of the parent repo but let you have commits tracked separately. On disk though (and for Bitbucket), they would count against the size of the parent. If you haven't already started down this road, Bitbucket supports…

@mentions in Jira Cloud should always trigger emails to the person mentioned - as far as I know there is no option to disable that. Are people receiving other emails from Jira? For example, if someone else creates an issue and assigns it to you, do you receive an email notification?
-
Slightly less simple answer: * It could be done at your reverse proxy (nginx, Apache, IIS) by matching the space permissions page and applying some rule - e.g. only certain IP addresses can access the page, only display the page if the username section in part of the page matches a certain list, etc. This would be a bad…

Hi Sander, You can drag and drop multiple files to attach them onto a single card. Unfortunately, there's no way to create multiple cards like this. Trello will only create a card from the first file it receives in a drop. If you'd like to see the behavior change to add multiple cards for multiple files, submit a feature…

Hi Chandra, You're going to want to set up a reverse proxy in front of Jira. You'll also need a DNS name set up for the instance and a CA-signed SSL certificate for HTTPS termination. Here are the Atlassian guides for doing this using your webserver of choice: * Apache * nginx * IIS Cheers, Daniel

Woohoo! Congrats everyone! Great to see some new faces hitting the Accepted Solutions :)

Mike presented at Summit 2017 - you can check out a recording of his talk on the Summit site. I liked it so much that I had him present for two local Atlassian User Groups!

Gotcha - that extra info helps. Looks like Comodo says you generally need to add intermediary certificates for their trust chain with Java. The instructions they provide are for doing this with keytool, which you might have already done if you've gone to SSLPoke and it's returning an all-clear. If this is the case (using…
