I think that the only serious way that you can do that is with a Confluence plugin that allows the use of a .dotx file from MS Word to be used to create MS Word style sheets to export into. From what I have seen the basic export to word is rudimentary, works, but takes formatting work after the fact to make the word doc…

Rakesh, I am quite frankly surprised you didn't get a TRUCK load of responses to this. There are some pretty ardent Confluence users here. Regardless, I'll give you my viewpoint. I've worked directly with both Confluence and SharePoint and have word-of-mouth from colleagues that have worked with other collaboration tools.…

I've now also added "Presenter for Confluence" https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/de.incloud.confluence.presenter/server/overview which adds additional functionality and does go full screen. I like this one a lot. It doesn't obviate my use of Image Slider (just use it for different things) and fills the "rest" of my…

Mikkel, I also had used that one. However, (and this is a pay item) use the Image Slider (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.simplenia.confluence.plugins.imageslider) plugin. The "Content Slider" element of that does an excellent job of doing what "Presentation" macro used to do; perhaps even better. While you…

Are you pasting in a URL to the JIRA issue? You can have full control over how issues are displayed if you use the "JIRA" macro in Confluence. Any field is displayable then. You can do either discrete issues or you can display the results of a JQL query. That's the way we do it here.... works out very nicely.
-
Actually that works very well. It is, in fact what I do with my own Confluence instance where I have both JIRA instances in the company set up as trusted applications to Confluence. Basically, if I insert a JIRA macro, for instance, I merely select from a dropdown box WHICH JIRA I am selecting from.Nothing is actually…

I do concur with Timothy's comments at least concerning Confluence mostly because it doesn't have the facility of federating separate instances like JIRA does. Our company has separate instances of both Confluence and JIRA mostly due to geographic implications. JIRA is utterly no problem; once JIRA instances are federated,…

John, You might have to back out the upgrade and then do a few of them in sequence. There are often database schema changes between versions and you seem to have been bitten by one of those. If memory serves, you can only go direct to 5.7.x if you are starting at 5.0 or newer Confluence. If you go through the upgrade notes…

Adding to my comment... What I'd be looking for is what is described in the server.xml for my Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo, and Crowd instances... The Connector statement is in the following form: <Connector port="443" maxHttpHeaderSize="8192" maxThreads="300" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75" enableLookups="false"…

Piotr,I did see that page... It doesn't do what I was looking for (and the Atlassian Answers site told me I had blacklisted words when I tried to explain it more fully). In my JIRA, Bamboo, and Confluence instances, I use the PKCS12 DIRECTLY. I can set the keystoreType in the server.xml config file and just point at it…

Thomas,Short answer is no. The XML backup is the content only. You have to have a hot and ready Confluence instance to restore it to. The only configurations that are kept are the Confluence user level admin settings; not the base application running directories. That said, having the XML backup is a good belt/suspenders…
-
Thomas, I guess it all depends on how big your installation is for how long it will take to dump the DB and copy the data directories (you need both). Better to get the app directories as well so you retain all your configurations. The "official" way to back it up is to take Confluence offline to make the DB dump and…

Greg, Is it possible that the space itself (not just the pages) has restrictions either by group or discrete user? I've been bitten by that one... (and it doesn't show the little lock on the page). Usually occurs when someone sends a link to a discrete page so one knows it exists but "you can't get there from here" mike

Sanket, The only place I've run into this is for a SQL server jdbc datasource behind tomcat (not the Confluence DB which is PostgreSQL; SQL Server is another I have behind Confluence for other purposes). The "username" and "password" values didn't seem to take. I had to bake it into the url:…

Tobin, 100 servers - yikes Anyway, assuming Linux (I am running Ubuntu 14.04) and running behind Tomcat (no Apache) I have the following process for a rather smaller variant of that where I migrate the production system to a test box to test upgrades or other biggish changes to the installation: * Pre-reqs:* Make sure all…

Curiously, I am mucking about with this very thing right now. The tables you want will be: * customfield - Contains the definition of the fields * customfieldoption - Contains any defaults or other information that might be set in the field * customfieldvalue - Contains the actual values held by the fields. IF you are…

Dominic, I don't see any data sources configured in your server.xml. I suspect that may well be it. Tomcat starts but no declared access to a database which is where, I think, we find the root of all the OTHER errors following that. I am using postgresql and have (among other datasources I've configured to my Tomcat…

This page https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver071/supported-platforms-802592168.html is the one with the most information and, typically, the supported platforms page for each project is where I go when I need to know what I can/can't run on. I have run several Atlassian products on Windows in the past (now…

Roman, The query I am using for this purpose doesn't look like any of the ones in that example but does seem to present consistent data that I would find on a random sampling of users. Give this one a try. If you also happen to have more than one user directory configured, it will give you that as well. SELECT u.user_name,…

Raj, We have both at our shop and do tend to use JAMA for the rather larger requirement sets and Requirements Yogi for smaller efforts. HOWEVER, RY is getting more and more robust with each release and is starting to supplant JAMA for bigger and bigger efforts. If you haven't anything in place yet and your requirements…

Dang. Thanks for the quick answer. Is this on a roadmap somewhere?
-
Karie, I haven't used it myself (yet) but perhaps the Scroll Office plugin would do the job for you? This is something I'll be dealing with here eventually mike
-
Based on Bruna's input I will hold off on this for the nonce.
-
Thanks Bruna. Given that it isn't "there", I'll hang on until it is definitively supported (assuming it gets there). I took over a badly neglected Confluence instance at the office (seriously out of date and on a poor server) and now have it current and FAST. People are using it 10X more than they were and doing far more…

IF you have them both set up as trusted applications to your system, you should get a drop down selector in the JIRA issue macro to point at the server you want to pull information from that you won't see until you are IN the macro and defining your JQL/Filter and display options. I also just checked on my Confluence…
-
Jeff, I have done that here as well. The only caveat to this is subscribing to the JIRA Gadget Feeds. It will do it just fine. However, this will be a training issue you need to deal with. The problem is that all of them look exactly the same in the macro selection window for External Data and can ONLY be differed by…

Ehab, If you don't have the Universal Plugin Manager set to see the Atlassian Marketplace (or, like me, the firewall precludes JIRA from connecting to the marketplace) you can "Watch" it on the page for the plugin on marketplace.atlassian.com. That is how i keep all my plugins up to date. I get an email when there is a new…

Sachin, I echo Nic's comments as I'm not sure which OS you're talking about. When you say Linux 5 and Linux 7, we don't know which it is that you're running; I'd GUESS that, based on the 5/7 question that you're running RedHat or CentOS. That said, given that JIRA is a Java application it should run essentially anywhere…
-
Thanks Bob.That works great and you actually ended up also answering a question I was GOING to have. While you answered that one in that way I continued to RTFM and realized that I needed to check the "Evaluate wiki markup" option in the macro and then the statement select actual from gates where project_code =…

Ian, There are a variety of ways you can do this. The simplest is just to use the "include page" macro to embed an entire page in your roll-up page. As the pages that are "included" are updated, the roll-up will be updated as/when it happens. If you only want a chuck of those pages, you can use the "excerpt" (on the source…
