Hi Rilwan - thanks for the comment. Yes, changing from Server to DC would be simple. However the minimum Jira DC license tier is 500 users (US$42,000/year) this is not an option for small teams. Have you already migrated from Server to Cloud, or are you using Jira DC?
-
Thanks @Partha - thanks for the email, I've responded to you directly. We are a small team, but have encountered many problems with the migration process, and with Jira Cloud. We appreciate the assistance provided by Atlassian so far. Our experience is that the process is MUCH more difficult than we expected. I hope…

Five months after starting our second attempt at Cloud migration testing in January 2022, we are yet to be convinced that Jira Cloud will deliver our team with a more effective and productive platform. For us performance, usability, and accessibility of Cloud all remain below the levels we get today from Jira Server.…

The previous answer is correct, but I would add... The dot '.' menu can be used to link issues. It allows you to link issues on Jira Server and Cloud but requires more key presses. See Working on issues using the dot menu. Having said that I think the single key shortcuts are more intuitive - I'm not really a fan of the…

I do have an open MOVE ticket, but I think we got that advice from the Tempo support team. TIP: it also pays to check Cloud permissions carefully post migration. At one stage I thought the data hadn't been migrated but just didn't have permission to view it.
-
This turned out to be due to incorrect project permissions. DOH! After adding granting access to Create attachments the feature is now working. The UI doesn't give any clues (no error messages), so it took us a while to figure out.

The Atlassian support team seem to have a work-around to remove this text for you. Suggest you contact them for assistance. There is also a suggestion in the JCMA backlog - to make this optional: MIG-186 Give users the option to remove the "migrated on" text

Thanks for the observations. Hope these are helpful for others too. We will need apps to get what we want, but I'm yet to work through all our workflows in Cloud to figure out the details. It looks like differences between server and cloud apps will make this more difficult.
-
We are currently in migration testing (Server to Cloud) so I cannot really answer your question about the experience from the other side. But I thought I'd add some observations. Pre-migration Checks The recommended health checks and clean-up on your instance are technical (e.g. running SQL queries). If you're not…

I have discussed Worklog data migration via JCMA with the Tempo support team. They advised that Tempo worklog data will be migrated, but that the process can take time. Suggest you contact them directly for advice if you haven't done so already. I'll check our (test) migrated projects to see if I can get a report.

It seems like some of the shortcut problems reported here remain unresolved as we approach the 3 year anniversary of this post. We're *still* considering migrating to Cloud and keep finding these backward steps. Shortcut fans might want to vote for this one... https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-22139

I've experienced this issue. After searching it seems Atlassian thinks it is a bug/gap and has two open bug tickets about it: CONFCLOUD-68348 CONFCLOUD-73170 You could vote for one of these if you think it should be changed. However - it looks like you can manually remove these watches by navigating to: Profile (My…

We've done that on Jira Server - makes the product much more fit-for-purpose.

This is a common use-case for our team. Diagnostic logs are often a key part of problem investigation, both for bugs and customer support. We're still quite happy on Jira Server, so I'm worried what the users will say when we migrate to Cloud...
-
In exploration of Jira Cloud we've seen the same bug - doesn't look like a fix has been made. If you want to vote for a bug here is a link to one of them: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-22139

I know this was answered long ago; when linking Jira Server and Confluence Cloud we encountered a problem that might affect others also. We were unable to link our Jira Server to Confluence Cloud - the error from Confluence Cloud said "No response was received from the URL you entered..." (i.e. the Jira Server URL). This…

For existing Server customers that are cost-sensitive: you should check the cost of your add-on apps in Cloud vs Server. For our Server instance we found: * Not all apps we use are available in Cloud, or have a Cloud equivalent. * In total Cloud versions of our app (or equivalents) cost more than double what they cost in…

@Rob Horan- well I don't think that is a crazy thing to say. A lot of businesses refresh hardware on a schedule. But I agree that old PC hardware could be a factor. In our case; we replace workstations at 3 years old, so nobody in our team uses a device over 3 years old. The computers with the smallest RAM have 16GB. Last…

Thanks for the suggestion @Fabian Lim - indeed that app looks like it would do what we want. Have you used it to manipulate the Resolution field before? Of course we could migrate without solving this - and then add it later. But good to have options.

Just experienced this twice within a few minutes editing a page using Firefox. Does Atlassian test on Firefox? I have a fast broadband connection but I'm located in NZ some distance from the nearest AWS DC. No sign of issues on the confluence status page for me either.
-
From our location high latency was normal on Atlassian Cloud during testing last year and this year. We want to add more Atlassian products in the Cloud and migrate our existing ones from Server, unfortunately we are based in a country that doesn't have a AWS DC. It seems that for some users the combination of Atlassian's…

Just discovered this old question after my suggestion to Atlassian about UI sizes was closed. There have been a few different requests about customizing the size of JIRA fields and dialogs but Atlassian has closed them. Apparently they are the correct size :-| In most cases people want them to be larger rather than…

Since Atlassian's announcement (some time ago now), I have worked to determine if migrating to Atlassian Cloud products is a viable option for our organization. This has taken time, and I think we have explored this reasonably thoroughly. Our current conclusion is that it is not practical to migrate from Server to Cloud…

Just tried this on cloud next-gen project and it opens the bulk operation wizard. Is there some configuration option to make this simpler?

Update: we recently upgraded to JIRA 8.4.2 (along with some app updates) and this issue is now fixed on our server. Yay! I note that JRASERVER-69264 remains open - so either it was accidentally fixed, or maybe due to a 3rd party plugin (app) change.
-
Hi Muaamar, this has been a long-term annoyance for me also. Have tried the add-on and it seems to work well. Thanks for the tip. Dwight

Yes I know this is already answered. For the benefit of others following this trail of crumbs, I suggest you take a look at the latest (?) request/suggestion to address this user request: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-65439 If you want to see this resolved you could vote for this one.

I see this suggestion is related/similar: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-64798

Am looking at Confluence this but the lack of a solution is a blocker for us. If a Confluence KB integrated Service Desk cannot limit selected pages to a logged-in Customer then we might use Service Desk, but would not use Confluence. It would be nice to be able to limit specific KB content to specific Organisations, but…

I know this was answered a while back, but think there is more to add... We're using JIRA 7.11+ now and have found that when in visual mode, rich-text editor fields (issue description and comment) DO handle pasting of formatted text to some extent. For some email content this works very well and can be a real time-saver.…
