Yes, that probably doesn’t really suit anyone perfectly. We opted for the add-on first, so it was easy enough to go with a deeper hierarchy. I wish Atlassian would allow for levels between their “projects” (from the new app for projects and goals) and the “initiatives”. That would save us one level.
-
There is a bug: If you group, the sort order isn't considered any more.
-
Our setup is quite similar, though it includes more hierarchical levels: Project (de: Projekt) Subproject (de: Subprojekt) Phase (de: Phase) Work Package (de: Arbeitspaket; auf ebene von Epics) Task (de: Aufgabe) Subtask (de: Unteraufgabe) Your "1" is a project, your "1.1" is a phase, so we would create a dummy subproject…

I need a setting to turn off all this far too big images other people post, especially if they are animated GIFs.

I understand what this is trying to achieve, but I wouldn't call it case management... In practice, a Jira work item is already a case in 99% of situations. You don't put several cases into one work item, you split them up in different work items. Please don't create something just for JSMs. Create it for all Jira variants…

@John McEchron the text formatting toolbar appears as soon as you select some text.

Great improvements * Even cleaner and more streamlined look and feel. * Each user can define the order of fields in the right-hand panel themselves. * Automation is no longer as prominent, which makes sense since end users rarely need it. * Tabs continue to be supported. Thoughts and suggestions * I thought Confluence…

As always, Jira administrators tend to comment on changes from their perspective, not from that of the end users. Our users think it's great. Of course, there's still room for tweaks here and there, but overall, this is a welcome change, like most of the changes in the recent years.
-
@Dave Meyer Obviously, it works for Atlassian – that's why it's built the way it is built. Rest assured, it doesn't work for many companies. Show me the higher manager / stakeholder who wants to/is able to read 100+ weekly project updates. As I've explained before, there's at least one layer missing between epics and…
-
@Scott Fannen It's just the same as on the edit screen. So your users are already familiar with how to know what can be changed/edited.
-
This feature hasn't been improved in years, has it? It's quite rudimentary and therefore not really useful for us. The creation screen is essentially the same (there users can select which fields they want to fill in there).
-
I think this is a great change.

@April Chi Hello April, In Jira, we currently have Groups that are somehow imported from our Active Directory. Is my understanding correct that we now have those as Teams as well?
-
@April Chi We also need all team members to be notified whenever a work item is assigned to their team. In most organizations, responsibility is shared within a team. Whoever is available and has capacity at that moment picks up the newly created ticket. Notifications are even more important for teams that only receive…

@Tanya Maddalena https://community.atlassian.com/release-notes/6QM1GbHnnbOp19kHAQqIof said, that the "All work view" is updated so that fields now follow the configuration of the space. I still can select fields in filter (JQL mode) that are not in my space. When exporting my table with "all fields" it includes fields that…
-
@Anshumaan Bhartiya Availability must be located in user profile and be toggled directly in the top right of every screen. Being not available must not change any existing work item. Why do you need to connect a team? There are already persons configured as agents via the setting "Persons". As always: Workforce is a…

@Anukrati Saxena In German there is a problem because a word is too long (maybe "resource allocation" originally), please see https://ibb.co/XkZKXGfN
-
@Anukrati Saxena I see this is now live in my Jira (not in my sandbox, btw.) So the capacity tab is assuming that everyone works the same hours/week? Nobody is allowed to work part-time? Or am I missing something?
-
"These improvements will be rolling out soon." Why publish this before it's out? Doesn't make much sense in this case tbh.
-
@Peter Scobie without a link from work item to project it's even more useless.
-
I don't mean to criticize your idea at all, but in my opinion, this belongs more in the area where implementation is still undecided: Jira Product Discovery. There, a distinction is made between Must Have, Should Have, Could Have, and Won't Have. But once again, this clearly demonstrates that something like this doesn't…
-
@Josh @Rune Rasmussen The longer I work with it, the more I realize that Atlassian simply has many teams, a few heads at the top who think about strategy, but no one taking on the coordinating and unifying role in between. Is there even a Jira all-variants product manager? Apparently, Atlassian uses Projects and Goals…
-
@Daniel Bagiński Thanks for your response. >> Do you have any best practices for handling this in your company? How do you utilize work item hierarchy (Initiative, Epic, Task, Sub-task)? We use spaces as containers for our organizational units. Our hierarchy is Project > Subproject > Phase > Work Package/Epic > Task >…
-
Projects (and goals) have some serious conceptual problems. Please work on these first before linking them to the rest. The biggest problem: Most organizations don't use Jira the way Atlassian itself does. Most already have a hierarchy - something like this: project -> initiative/phase -> work package/epic -> task ->…
-
Right. Atlassian needs to finally understand one thing: organizations have vastly different approaches to project design. They can't simply impose their own model on everyone. That will only result in hardly anyone using it. Projects (and goals) must be extremely flexible to be used by many organizations. Yes, there are…

If I want to check what has changed since my last visit, I do... what? I neither want to know what's completely new nor do I want to go through the entire list again and again. In it's current state it's pretty useless. I should be able to follow a change and receive an email with every status-change. And "rolled out to…
-
"The global preview panel will be available in Jira and Confluence starting October 2025, with support for additional Atlassian products rolling out through 2026." It's still not here in our jira instance. Clicking on a confluence page in a jira work item opens the page in a modal window. Has it been postponed/canceled?
-
I missed the opportunity to apply :( Nevertheless some remarks from my side: * The screenshots clearly show a tab in a jira software space. When you write "helping people managers, team leads and project managers plan individual capacity against big rocks of work over a quarter or more directly in Jira.", then this tab is…

@Amy Cheong Thanks for your response. But what about the dates of the parent then? When A has B+C as children, A's dates are then an inferred summary of the dates of B & C (which are displayed in the timeline), but also have their own (not shown in the timeline, I guess). Maybe you use work item types that don't use their…
-
@Amy Cheong I'm not sure how this is supposed to work... "parent items automatically reflect the dates and status of their child work (including subtasks)" - so is this just a visual thing or does this actually change the dates of the parent item? I guess it's just visual, because otherwise it would change other areas of…
