@Eileen Palsson, I am on my second company using Confluence for all technical documentation. Confluence is an excellent platform for content development and delivery. Of course, there are many ways to construct your solution, depending upon how you plan to delivery your documentation to customer: via Confluence or PDF.…

Are the user names identical, not just the email addresses?
-
In that case, there is something off in the link syntax. If you could put the storage view of both the link and the anchor, maybe something will pop out. Often the storage view can give more info when trying to diagnose a problem.

Holy moly that is a lot of spaces! I take it that each space has a potentially different user specified as a space admin? I was going to suggest using the REST API, but there is no permission support CONFSERVER-44329 I think your best bet is the paid plugin ultimate-permission-manager Next option that would allow you to…
-
How many spaces do you have? I ask because the amount of time to reset the permissions is probably a lot less than trying to come up with a blocking solution. You have two other solutions: * White tape approach - write CSS to set those menu items to invisible (visibility:hidden;) * Find the vm file in Confluence, and…

If by sub-page you mean a child page, the instructions I gave are accurate. You just need the page name (the link does not reflect the page hierarchy). The hierarchy you see within Confluence is just the result of metadata, but the pages are stored flat (just look at the URL). This flat storage is also why all page names…

Well, 3.5.1 is the last of the 3,x versions, and they want to promote the newer 4.x. But you can still access older versions. The complete listing is on the Atlassian marketplace: scroll-pdf-exporter-for-confluence/version-history And the docs for the older version are here: https://help.k15t.com/legacy/scroll-pdf-exporter…

Vonnie, For a user macro solution using the Confluence Status menu, see my article: Getting Started with User Macros - Writing a Wrapper Macro. May not be exactly what you want, but easier than manually editing macros.
-
I think your best solution (and it is not without some pain), is to go with Scroll PDF Exporter, BUT not the latest version. You need to go with version 3.5.1 as it was the last version that supported CSS and VTL, good templating and export schemes. This is the setup we use for all customer doc PDF production. So the first…

Make sure the anchor name has no spaces, if you are trying to link to a heading, or if your anchor name has spaces.
-
Per the docs here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/links-776656293.html: Choose Link > Advanced then enter the anchor name in one of the formats below. For an anchor on this page: #anchor name. For an anchor on another page in this space: page name#anchor name. For an Anchor on another page in another space:…

Thanks @Davin Studer, you are right about user macros. I and many users coming to Confluence complain about X or Y being missing, but with user macros, you can often fill in those holes. Yes, it would be nice if Confluence had X or Y builtin, but at least they give you access to a very powerful tool to build a solution.…

@Jim Fancher, I banged out an article this weekend, exactly around this topic. Please take a look: Getting Started with User Macros - Writing a Wrapper Macro Feedback would be appreciated.
-
Yes, the macro will allow users to simply edit the macro in a page, and change the status. You can have the macro inserted in the template, but it settings can be change anytime anyone edits the page. User macros are not hard, but do require coding, specifically, using Velocity (VTL) which supports JAVA constructs. There…

You said you wanted to add center aligned to the a column attribute. So I am a confused as to what you are wanting to do.

Obwohl ich Deutsch kann, kann ich nicht Confluencen auf Deutsch. ;-) So antworte ich auf English, Just to stress a point Thomas made regarding permissions (because if often gets missed). All users (and groups have to be members of confluence-users (except for anonymous). What this means in practice is that you will need to…

Well you have an order of precedence issue. Inline styles are the highest, then your custom CSS at the space/system level, then the default system CSS. My suggestion is that if you need to have a range of styles, that you create a user macro that sets a class on the a div wrapper (probably controlled via a parameter). Then…
-
You tried just highlighting the column(s) and clicking the center align button in the editor ribbon?
-
If you want to change it space/system wide, you can edit the CSS style sheet for Confluence. If you just want a section/link styled a certain way, then you need to create a user macro. For example: ## Macro title: Link Macro ## Developed by: Bill Bailey ## Date created: 2019.01.09 ## Version: 0.1 ## @noparams <style…

Once the variable is set, does it ever change on the created page? If so, I would restructure your solution as a user macro that has a number of drop downs (if your form can be structured that way). Then you can control and validate entries, and conceptually it is easier for your users (plus easier to update the form…

You create anchors via Insert other Content -> other macros -> anchors. Are you entering them that way? And are you trying to link to content on the same page, or externally? If on the same page, be sure you are using the advanced tab on the Insert Link menu and just entering #anchorname there. It is also the same tab for…

Well I am not full-time, but they can consume a lot of hours. It depends on how many articles you need, and how many people are generating content (determines workload). I would suggest starting with a contractor, because hiring this position full-time may be hard - you can find people who know how to support Confluence,…

You described exactly what I do for one client. I am their Confluence admin, responsible for keeping it running, answer user questions, writing macros, etc. Their in-house IT team is too overloaded to take on this task, so they are more than happy to have me do it. I am also their technical writing resource, responsible…

Have you configured a reverse proxy? What about Selinux to open up that port? This a case where testing via a desktop on the server could tell you if it is at least working locally.
-
Hello Xavier, If you want to link to pages (or anchors on pages) externally, it will work much better if you have anonymous view access enabled for the space. Otherwise, you will have to have accounts for each user. For example for my own Confluence instance (which is server based), I created a public space to place this…

Copying and pasting the URL in the browser doesn't work? Or the tiny link under Page Information?
-
Not sure what your use case is (why you want to do this), but I cannot think of any way to do what you want to do with the ToC macro without adding some constant text to headings you don't want to appear. The only other way I can think of is the wrap the ToC macro in a user macro, then apply CSS to hide what your don't…

This is why I don't advocate Cloud version for Enterprise user. Server gives you much more control on whether or when to upgrade, plus the ability to generate user macros to fill in holes, or replace deprecated macros if need be.
-
I don't think there is anyway to do what you want. Linking is an HTML/browser function. You would need some javascript to always expand expand macros, which defeats the purpose of the macros.

Watching means getting emails. So if you don't want emails, you have to unwatch. Without emails, watching servers no function. The other alternative is to set up a rule in your email client to filter/file the Confluence notification emails to a folder. Then you can either easily delete or review later.
