@Paul Dickinson regarding "harder to adopt AR for new users". I (as Site Admin and Coach for Atlassian products) have just documented my findings on Confluence, via a combination of simple "How to" pages and links to Atlassian content (written and video) and held a couple of Advanced Roadmaps demo sessions/Q&A via Video…

I like "estimated read time" as well as All of the above.

Interesting idea. Ultimately, based on your use case, the ability to clone a view would do. That way, you could take an existing Plan (issue source) and simply overlay the view (or set of views) required. Yeah? That said, I'm not sure here is the right place to make such a request. If I were you, I'd "Give Feedback" via…

What is it you find annoying about the current (Cloud I presume) editor? Perhaps the community can help f you can be a little more specific about your frustrations. If you want to experience the old editor (which also has pros and cons) you can create a personal Space (in Confluence cloud) and it (for some reason) still…

Hey @Bill Sheboy I got it working this morning....was simpler than expected. See below:

You can set the transition to only update when a ticket goes from "In Review" status to "UAT" and not any other status (which a presume you have done). So if you add into the automation that it only updates the "finish date" if it is empty as a condition, would that do it? Only problem then is, if it does cycle through "In…

Use the "Select List (cascading)" custom field type.
-
@Russell Zera I think it could. That was why I just opted for a schedule, as I couldn't think of another way to "trigger" the event. I don't think it matters how often you run the schedule. What matters is how many updates it is likely to do per "schedule", as that is where the grunt is. Plus, whether you intend it to be a…

Best I can think of is run a scheduled job with JQL of: issueLinkType in ("Caused By") AND status = Done and resolution = Deployed Then use an "if else" along the lines of: Note: I used "is tested by" as the link type, but you would use your "Caused by" one. Then use the "edit Issue" action to configure your step 3. Worth…

Not sure I understand how or where the "Parenting" is in your scenario. Reads like you have a one to many linked issues setup, where the one "master" issue is not a parent, but simply has a number of linked issues...do I have that right? My hunch is, this would be a lot easier if instead of just a series of linked issues,…

Easiest way would be to create a set of sub-tasks that can be physically moved to "Done". Either via a manual trigger/Create Sub-task or at the start of each Sprint etc...whatever suits your situation.
-
I think you would need some intermediary code to get such a trick to happen..... And you would want to test it for quality and security. Sorry i can't be of more assistance, hopefully someone else can help you out.
-
Interesting Use case.....it probably can be done (via API) but is it the best way to go about it? How big is the company? how many of these requests do you get? I can recommend using Atlassian access in conjunction with AD group membership to manage both on and off boarding of staff. but that does come with a cost and…

Further to the above, the new Board I used as the Issue source was filtering on a certain Program Increment number (on our Program Increment custom field), thus all the stories completed in the Previous PI were never part of that Board, because of its filter query. You may have a similar filter query situation?
-
@Kelly Strand It could be to do with what you are using as the "Isuue sources". I just did an experiment where on an existing plan I had an Epic marked as done and no stories could be seen under it in the hierarchy. I changed the default for completed issues and some of the stories (that were done) appeared. The other…

Good idea @sebastien_gervais

I solved this issue by simply changing the offending Statuses Category from “Done” to “In progress”. That said, it made sense to do it that way in our case it was for a status of "Realising" which is only on our SAFe Epic (Initiatives) workflow and all statuses to the left of it were "In progress" category and we still had…

Question @Romain VELON the "Parent to child relations" in your trigger....is that a link type description you have in Jira? As i don't see that option, only link types that we have set up in our instance. I only ask as I was looking the other day for a way to trigger from changes to the Advanced Roadmaps "Parent link"…
-
I agree with Nic. I don't believe you will be able to change the issue type....you could make a copy of it as a sub-task (with its own unique key) and then delete the 'task'. But It's all getting a bit complicated
-
What version of Jira are you using? and are you using Automation for Jira to do the automation?
-
Answer is as per my last comment to John above. When i initially tried this, I just hadn't hit enter before moving on/saving and thus the entry never stayed (or saved)
-
Don't worry @John Funk the answer was simple. Just had to hit enter after placing {{version.name}} in the fix versions field.
-
Any Ideas @John Funk ? It's like it needs a combo of json and smart value, but i can't get anything to populate it. Seems odd that the "Version Created" trigger can't then create an issue that is associated with the version that triggered the event.
-
Hi @John Funk sure. this is what I've got working, If I add Fix Version as a field to populate the options are all related to procuring the version an issue. Where in this case (as the version has just been created), there is no other issue to reference. So I tried some attempts at json, but I couldn't get anything to work.
-
I might need more JSON skills for that, but I like your thinking @Ste Wright Thanks for the tip!
-
It's a shame the Add/Remove values option isn't available on a custom field that is a group picker.
-
Sorry, I miss read your question (in haste) see @Yvan Martin answer. Will be great when this is possible though!
-
Thanks for that @Shannon S

Wouldn't it be something like the example here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/construct-cron-expressions-for-a-filter-subscription/ i.e. 0 15 20 ? * 6L For it to run at 8.15pm on the last Friday of the month
