Not sure what documentation you're looking for, @Miroslav Lazarevic I don't believe Atlassian offers any controls for the order or visibility of the content that installed Apps put in the Jira or Confluence sidebar. So I can't point you to anything docs for that. As I mentioned above, the best bet is to look at settings…

So there are some places where Jira aggregates things like this, but it's not as universal and complete as we might wish for. You've discovered, for example, that Original Estimate values in Subtasks aren't natively aggregated relative to their parent Story or Task in a visible way in issues. If you are using the native…

The developer hack in me wonders if there's a way to "adjust" a Jira Cloud backup to just include the one project to be copied, and then "restore" it as a new project. https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloudkb/how-to-import-only-part-of-a-jira-export-into-jira-cloud-859461966.html Anyone ever explored that?

Using rules configured for single projects will avoid the monthly execution limits, yes. I believe the "Default unit for time tracking" only impacts how a bare number like 15 will be interpreted in a Time Tracking field. In my instance it will be 15h, in your instance it will be 15m. The internal storage of that data is…
-
So the only way to manage that is to create a new custom field for the Stories, which is going to complicate things in a number of ways. I'm assuming you want to be able to revise the Original Estimate value for the Parent Story/Task itself. In that case, you can't use the same Original Estimate field to also hold the…

Note: the above solution assumes your Jira instance is set to use HOURS as the time tracking default unit: You can check this for your Jira instance (even without Admin privs) using this REST call: https://YOURINSTANCE.atlassian.net/secure/admin/TimeTrackingAdmin.jspa (substitute your instance prefix) If not, adjust the…

Wow. This was not as trivial as it look originally. I built out a working rule, which looks like this: But as the thread above shows, the trigger and initial conditional wasn't originally obvious. One last bit of surprise was how the "Edit issue" action needed to be configured: Note the division by 60, and especially the…

Not quite. For this bullet: * Branch to the "Parent" (Story) you'd want to use the following (instead of your "For Sub-tasks" branch): Also, don't forget about this bullet point: * Use a conditional to only proceed if the triggered issue is a Subtask That should be before the branch. This is because you only want to fall…

Ugh. I assumed that field would be available in that trigger. Ok, so it took some experimentation and sleuthing, but I think I found a solution. Start your rule out with this trigger and include this additional conditional early: I saw some notes that "timeoriginalestimate" might also be relevant for the conditional. You…

Bullet 2 in the first link talks about "Sum up remaining estimates or original estimates in all subtasks and set it to the parent task." Sounds like that's what you want to do. The second link illustrates how to aggregate subtask data into a parent Story (using Story points, but it's the same process). What you want to do…

Automation in Jira (Cloud) recently added some subtask-spanning math functions that solve these sorts of problems: * https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Automation-articles/How-to-sum-up-logged-hours-using-automation-in-Jira-Cloud/ba-p/1409115 *…

Automation is built-in to Jira Cloud now.

I tried to confirm roll-up of "Original estimate" from Subtasks to parent Story, but could not. In my case, it might have to do with our Tempo Timesheet app which takes over as the Time Tracking Provider. Automation recently added some subtask-spanning math functions that solve these sorts of problems: *…

My first thought would be to define a custom field to support triggering for rule chaining. One such field could support all projects in an organization, as long as you controlled the field content across all your rules. The "Field value changed" trigger will then focus on changes to that field for later rules in the…

@Dave LIAO That list is actually not too far off from the total of the recent Misunderstood Mischief quest series! Meanwhile, my wife and I have two stalled quests because both Landorus and Giovanni are in hiding. >:-|

Ok. Are you using this automation in Jira Cloud, JSM Cloud, or...? Where is this "Mister J" project?
-
Some things to check: * Is the rule enabled? * Is the rule configured for the project (or configured to be global)? To review these settings, view the rule, click on "Rule Details", and inspect the "Scope" and "Projects" settings for the rule. Also check for the slider in the top-right to be green with a checkmark…

I made really good use of the two "Double XP" days during October. These screenshots are from right after completing a mass evolution with a Lucky Egg (so 1/2 hour each): With one more (not shown), I totaled 374,360 XP with about an hour of time and 3 lucky eggs. Only 3,176,281 more XP to go for Level 41. :-(

I wholeheartedly support @Curt Holley's suggestion above. I've coached many teams to use Subtasks as a way to break out work (and track time) for the effort of different people towards the completion of the same Story or Task. Jira is built well to "roll-up" this data. As a bonus, if you set your Board to use "Swimlanes by…

These types of Reports in Jira (burnups, burndowns, sprint, version, etc) rely on: * Board configuration (Board Settings > Estimation), and * Data in specific built-in fields (Remaining estimate, Story points, etc.) You can look up your Custom Fields in "Jira > Admin > Issues > Custom Fields". Any custom fields you have…

It would help if you provided more detail about what you have set up (e.g. screenshots), what action should trigger the updates, and what you expect to happen.

If the Audit Log for that rule doesn't show errors or executions when expected, confirm that the rule is enabled. If it is enabled, then maybe check your Automation usage to ensure you haven't exceeded any limits for your plan:

I can't think of an easy way to do this in the Confluence GUI (even in the admin area). The Confluence Cloud REST API can return this information. Use a Search request with the appropriate CQL to locate the data you want. Likely a little bit of scripting will be needed, if you want a repeatable and clean listing. If you…

The "Original estimate" (as well as Time remaining" and other fields) are built-in fields for Jira, and they also relate to certain other metrics, reports, and integrations. Examples: some built-in reports rely on these fields; some time tracking App integrations rely on these fields. Jira allows you to add Custom Fields.…

Unfortunately, no. For Company-Managed Projects (CMPs), the Administer Projects priv in a Permission Scheme will grant site-wide abilities to manage most or all of the configuration for CMPs. The reason for this is because much of CMP configuration is shared among those projects. If an admin can only see a subset, they are…

I also noticed that the Jira Cloud REST API does include some access to the Jira Audit Log: https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/api-group-audit-records/#api-rest-api-3-auditing-record-get There might be some data in there about who changed User Records. More about the Audit Log in general here:…

This sounds like a concern for some standalone automation. From @Mark Simpson's first link above: ...as a possible workaround, you can grab the cookie from an active site-admin session from the browser and then use it to authenticate a REST API POST request... and: ...this is just a workaround, the endpoint is not…
-
Totally makes sense, @Bill Sheboy. I had two (unconfirmed) concerns with this approach: * I assumed a need to (at least sometimes) create multiple Tasks under each Epic. Upon review, that wasn't explicitly stated in the OP. Might end up being a "subtle brittleness" that would misbehave if a second Task was added. * I…

Thanks @Mark Simpson, but I don't see the /api/users and /api/adminhub requests documented at that link.

@Mark Simpson Great answer. Can you point us to some online documentation for this Admin API? It appears to be separate from the normal Jira Cloud REST API.
