@Clare Chawke Jira Align synchronizes information with Jira via the Jira Connector. One Jira Align instance can have many Jira Connectors running at the same time. I work with one customer that has 10 separate Jira instances, with their Jira work items (epics and stories) integrated into Jira Align. In this case, all the…

Thanks for this, @Emily Jin ! Does this work with Jira and Confluence DC? Or do Smart Links only work with Jira and Confluence Cloud products?
-
There are quarterly Roadmap updates from the Jira Align Product team and the recordings are posted in the Jira Align Help, under videos. The most recent webinar recording is available here: https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/29937042018964-Jira-Align-product-roadmap-Q3-2024

In the meantime, there are APIs available that allow you to accomplish the same thing, of loading a series of Objectives into Jira Align.

For folks who are interested in this question: back in 2020 when this question was asked, Jira Align did support programs in different instances. However, we found there could be data synchronization issues, especially because Jira does not support the parent link across different Jira instances. Instead, the solution is…

Thanks for the excellent writeup, @Tarun Sapra . It is great to see a process laid out without specifying tools. Sometimes people focus too much on which tool they're using and don't think about why they're doing the plans and using the tools. It might be enlightening for folks to realize that the work for a planning event…

Hey there, @Heidi Hendry . The calendar will be updated soon, but sticking with the monthly schedule, 10.127 should be around the end of November.

I understand. Unfortunately, there is not currently a mapping of the items above the Epic level in Jira into Jira Align. So if you have those items in AR, they won't be synchronized with the information in Jira Align.
-
You can see more about the field mapping between Jira and Jira Align in the Jira Align Integration Guide. You can find that here: (https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000088854-Jira-integration-guide) Those fields (Capabilities, Epics, Themes, Goals, Strategies, Mission, Vision, and Values) exist only in Jira…

There aren't items in Jira Core that map to Capabilities, Epics, Themes, Goals, Strategies, or Mission, Vision, and Values. Those items exist in Jira Align but not in Jira. The Jira Align integration guide provides the most complete understanding of the field mapping between Jira and Jira Align. You can find it here:…

Do you mean grouping them in priority order (as @Peter Jessen says above) or do you mean arranging the timing of each capability? If you want to change the timing of items, you can drag and drop those where you want them then be sure to click the "Sync" button in the upper right. Then you'll be prompted to save any…

My friend @Heidi Hendry is exactly right. There's definitely a way to move the data from one place to another. But it's worth looking at the bigger picture and considering how new features in Jira Software Cloud, along with using Jira Align, might change the way teams work together. That change management piece is…

This configuration is not currently supported in Jira Align. There may be synchronization issues if information is in different Jira instances.

You should definitely work with your Atlassian team to figure out the best approach for your specific needs, but there are a few different approaches for migrating your Jira Software Server instance while connected to Jira Align cloud instance. Using the Jira Server XML export and import to Jira Cloud is the recommended…

I may be misunderstanding, but if you want to have a "standard process across all" of your programs, this will work fine. You can create a process flow then assign it to many different programs. Then each program will use the same flow. In @Jennelle Stearns message above, she says each Program (ART) can have just one flow…

Thanks for the excellent explanation of the work the team has done, @Roman Koshovskyi . It is great to see how much improvements you're making.

My colleague @Philipp Barry wrote a great article that will help as you're going down this path. Check it out at https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Align-articles/Thoughts-on-the-quot-best-quot-structure-in-Jira-to-integrate/ba-p/2250401

One other item to consider: If you have many projects (and they all have to be in the same instance) it works best if they have the same workflow, issue types, issue attributes and so on. It makes it easier to manage when the projects follow the same scheme. You certainly can make it work if every project has a different…

Do you have a Technical Account Manager (TAM) or Jira Align Solution Architect (SA) you are working with? If so, they can get you access to your customer Confluence space.
-
@Drew Smith Many of the answers to these questions depend on how you do your Jira migration. If you use the Cloud Migration assistant, it may take more work to clean up and reconnect Jira Align to your new Jira Cloud. If you do a Jira Site XML export and import, there is less work because all the project keys and issue…

That link was the private, pre-release version. Here's a public link from @Sam Tsubota : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfYOS5xmE0I And this from our colleague @Derek Huether also explains how you can use Enterprise Insights to combine with information from other systems: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5w_0SPPz5Y

This video is excellent. If you understand a bit about how Jira Align works (hierarchies of work items, teams, objects, time intervals, etc.) then this video explains how to find your way through the EI schema.

You can definitely do this within Jira Align. As far as rights, the System Role in Jira Align has to allow someone to change the Initiative. (If you can't save the initiative record, you won't be able to add tickets to it.) As far as multiple projects, it is important to remember that an Align program or team of teams can…

It hasn't been announced yet. Your best option is to check on the Public Roadmap to see when it does get announced. The Product Team will be updating this roadmap when new API endpoints are planned. https://www.atlassian.com/roadmap/cloud?selectedProduct=jiraAlign
-
There will be a Jira Align roadmap update in early September. Usually the Product Management team gives a view of planned API endpoints in those roadmap reviews.

My friend @Peter Jessen wrote a great article about the implications of moving a Team here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Align-questions/What-are-the-implications-of-moving-a-team-from-1-train-to/qaq-p/1339252 A lot of the points he raised in that article about a team also apply to an entire Program. There are…

To add to @Tom O_Connor 's point, it's best to think to of Jira Align as a way to track and make decisions about software development that is planned or in progress. Compass is a way to keep track of all system components that make up a modern microservice-based system architectures. It will make sense for an enterprise to…

It appears there might be a mismatch between your User IDs in Jira and Jira Align. It looks like on 7/26 someone set the Owner in Jira Align. Then on 8/1 it looks like someone changed the Owner on the Jira side, and owner has '6871' in the identifier. But Jira Align can't match that to anyone, so blanks it out. Then on 8/3…
-
If that's the case, it may be because your Tier 1 filter is set for a Team. When you're looking at a Team (whether they're an agile team or a kanban team) you only see the Story and Defect backlog for that team. If you change your filter to include a Program (or Team of Teams or whatever your terminology is) you will see…

If you're focused on PI Planning and your existing toolset supports what you need, then there's not a good reason to change. (If it's not broke, don't fix it!) But Jira Align offers a set of features that go far beyond PI Planning. It supports Portfolio Management, Lean Estimating and capacity forecasting, dependency…
