In addition, there's a great video by @Sam Tsubota on YouTube that explains the key features of the EI schema. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfYOS5xmE0I

One thing to consider is that no one person uses every (or even most) reports in Jira Align. Instead, people in different roles use reports that correspond to the Jobs they do. So if the person is an RTE or a Scrum-of-Scrums Master, they'll look more at the Program-level views. If the person is responsible for strategy or…

I don't have a handy list of what might be removed. I'd focus most on the Program and Portfolio level information, since we assume most folks in the delivery teams are in Jira and using all the appropriate Jira views.

Hey, @richard.n.pykkonen ! One of the better sources I have seen is from our friends at CPrime. This document is slightly dated, but it's a really good starting point. https://www.cprime.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Cprime-Jira-Align-Reporting-WP-FINAL.pdf

If you are going to use PowerBI for reporting, you should use the Enterprise Insights database. The Rest APIs aren't appropriate for the kind of reporting typically done through PowerBI or other reporting tools. You can see this article here about connecting PowerBI to Enterprise Insights.…

Thanks for the additional information! To change the roles of existing users, there are [at least] two options: * Write a script using Jira Align's User API to find the people with Role #1 and change it to Role #2. * In the People Administration panel, Export all the users with Role #1, update the output file with the new…

In Jira Align, it isn't currently possible to rename a role. However, if you have the appropriate system rights, you can copy one role to another and delete the old one. This works for most of the out-of-the-box roles that come with Jira Align, and will work for any of the roles that you may have created. In the Jira Align…

And here's an article about building out that Program Board during PI Planning. https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Align-articles/Building-a-Program-Board-during-PI-Planning/ba-p/1329910

There is not currently an API available for Risks in Jira Align. You can find out more about what API's are available here: https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045371954-Getting-started-with-the-REST-API-2-0

To add to what Samit said, there aren't any inherent risks in moving a feature from one PI to the next and the next and the next. However, this will affect the program teams metrics and will show in the Scope Change report. Any Lean organization will be interested in figuring out how to improve the delivery process, and…

If you are using the small view, and you mouse over, the name of the feature appears in the lower left (as shown below.) Does that not work for you? And if you're looking at the Normal View, the feature name does show. In my demo scenario below the team has way too much WIP, so the board is overwhelming. But if the team…

You certainly can create 3 - 5 year roadmaps in Jira Align. And it can include Business Initiatives as well -- there's not a limit to the type of Initiatives you can track in Jira Align. The Roadmap doesn't have OKR's (though there are some views that allow you to group work by the objective that it is supporting.) Take a…

Make sure to set "Show External ID's" to Yes while you're on the Preferences screen. That way, you can see the Jira IDs of the Features and Stories that are synchronized from Jira.

Check out the Jira Integration guide which you can find here: https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000088854-10X-Jira-Integration-Guide Starting at page 4 you can see how the integration works. The guide includes which Jira issues are mapped to Jira Align and which attributes in Jira are synchronized. And this…

In the Roadmap, you can choose whether to see only the planned items or the unplanned items (those in the Unassigned Backlog) or both. Click the View Configuration button in the upper right, and you'll see these options. Pick the Unplanned Work Items tab, then choose which options to you want to see.

When you add a board to Jira Align (via Administration | Jira Management | Jira Boards) that will set up a new team in Jira Align. One team in Jira Align will be matched up with one board in Jira. If the team is a Kanban team, and isn't using sprints, when you add that team's kanban board into Jira Align, you can also…

There is not currently a Clone function in Jira Align. You can copy it, as you have done, or you can split it. If you split an Epic, it will create a "Part 1" and a "Part 2". All the completed stories will stay with Part 1, and the incomplete stories will go with Part 2. And there will be an indicator in Jira Align saying…

There may be two parts to your question. * The first is about using the Solution layer in your Team structure. (Portfolio-Solution-Program-Team) * The second is about using the Capability in your Work structure. (Epic-Capability-Feature-Story) You can have the Solution level in your Team structure without requirement the…

You can see more about how the information in the Why? Panel is built out here: https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000799213-10X-The-Why-Button It is based on information you enter in whole hierarchy of the work item. There are elements from story, feature, capability, epic, theme, and the Why? Panel shows any…

Unfortunately, there is not currently an API endpoint for getting license usage. Depending on what you are trying to do, there are a couple options. You can export the User Records (Administration | People | More Actions | Export) and from there you can see how many people there are in each role. You can also see when each…

ARTs can have different start and end dates within the same portfolio. There's no need to create a new portfolio to accommodate that one ART. The only thing you'll need to make sure people are aware of is when they want to look at views for the entire Portfolio (for example, looking at the Roadmap view), they'll need to…

@Frances Cottrell What I've seen a couple of our clients do is create "Interim Programs" in Jira Align that represent the teams that are not yet in Jira Align. Then they can create requests that go into the existing teams. If you're going to take this approach, you need to think about which particular group you are…

With Enterprise Insights, you can either: * Point your visualization tool directly at EI and run the queries there, or * Use interfaces from EI to load the data into your own data lake and combine with other information.

Here @Allan Maxwell provides two examples of what I was suggesting: If you don't use Enterprise Insights, you'd need to build your own process to extract the data on a regular basis then build the data structure to meet your needs. You could use this example (and the one below) to get the stories and features and epics and…

I hate to say this, but the fastest way to get Flow Metrics is to use Enterprise Insights (EI). EI is a reporting database for Jira Align that has all the historical information needed to generate the reports. My colleague @Derek Huether wrote an excellent article explaining this here:…

It looks like some features are getting written to Jira and others are not. In the sample you have open, it is to be written to the "BR DCK" project, and it hasn't been written there yet. (You can tell this because there's no external ID in the feature grid, and also because there's no "View in Jira" button on the Details…

I'm glad @Sam Tsubota and I say the same thing!

Hi there, @Chris Boersma Which version of Jira Align are you using now? There have been a number of changes in the Objectives area, and it's helpful to know where you are. The System Roles grant access to different capabilities for Objectives. In Administration | Roles, you can give different roles the ability to Add and…

Do you mean the Status Report page from the Enterprise Level? You can click the "Capture" button to get an image of all the data on the status report page. (Use the Extra Configs button to choose only the data elements you want to see.) If you mean from the Portfolio Backlog, you can Export the items from the selected…

Sorry for the delay in responding, @Bill Goodall . I was away from my computer for a bit. We've definitely heard from teams that they want to keep the flexibility of setting up their own workflows. And we absolutely don't want to take away a team's ability to innovate and find new ways of working. What we're looking for is…
