  • Hi Dali, I see that a few questions have been raised with a similar error, but none that are happening to all users on a particular issue. Rather than speculating I think you'd be best helped by raising a ticket at https://support.atlassian.com. Include a link to this Community threat in the ticket. -Scott
  • HI Dali, Can you tell me what version if Jira you are using, if it is Cloud or Server, and if it happens for all users or just some of them? If it is just some of them, do they happen to have long user names? -Scott
  • Hi Mehnam, An Epic is as high as you can go, and Jira does not allow you to link one Epic to another. Any new issue type you create will be under the Epic level. You may, however, be able to set releases as a further hierarchy: Epic A contains following child User Stories (US 1; US2; US3; US4; US5; US6; US7; US8) Release 1…
  • @Meg Holbrook They make sure I water the plants...because they're no good to me dead.
  • Allow me to introduce you to Gary the Gardenia and Spike. My workplace is very old school (as in "business casual" means I no longer have to wear a jacket and tie) so I got a few "looks" when I brought them into the office on my second day. I just told everyone I was the new Plant Manager and left it at that.
  • I played on Every Noise for hours last night. Music is such a huge part of by work day I dug deep into obscure genres and found stuff I never new existed (Pirate Metal really is a thing!) I listen to all types of music, depending on my mood and what I'm doing, so this was a lot of fun to explore. My workday usually starts…
  • @[deleted] DUDE! Metal pirate music? How happy am I?
  • It looks like this is a bug; several users on my instance have had the same issue for a couple of weeks. Workaround: Use the edit view of the Confluence page and create the issue via the Jira Issue macro on the toolbar. Here is the bug report: CONFCLOUD-61608
  • Thanks Ann. It looks like this is intermittent, I'll test it more and see if I can narrow it down to certain steps, ask another user to test, etc. If it's not user error I'll open a ticket (entirely possible, given that I'm the user and I was working remotely at a couple different vendor sites this week.) -Scott
  • ...as one would expect after holding up Atlassian all day @Tinker Fadoua!
  • Yeah, I get frustrated with it too. I run into the same thing, and I'm a site-admin! Here's how I get around it: I created a generic project permissions scheme that has my groups for jira-administrators, and whenever I assign a PM to be the admin of a project I make sure they are in this group. Then, every time I create a…
  • You may also need to check the Permissions scheme for the project; if the user is not included as part of a group or as an individual user in the permission scheme used by the project that user won't have access. It gets me every time...I'm a site admin and when I create a new project I also have to assign it to one of my…
  • Actually, this is my first boat. I grew up helping my dad make furniture and when a friend started building a kayak in his garage I though it looked like a fun challenge. I used the more expensive redwood because I did't like the look of the cheaper cedar my friend used; it was too "yellowy." Once this one is done I'm…
  • Thanks! @Meg Holbrook, it really depends on the type of kayak, the material it's made of, and what you're going to use it for. All else being equal, I'd say building your own is less costly...You can get a good touring boat in a kit from Chesapeake Light Craft for about $1200, while a similar fiberglass boat could run…
  • It was surprisingly pleasant in Cleveland this weekend....I spent it working on my kayak; it's time to cut the hole for the cockpit and build out the coaming. I chickened out though and sanded instead. It's a big hole in a work piece that took about 100 hours to build, so I have to work up to it.
  • HI Derek, My guess is that you'll run into other areas where a duplicated email address will give you problems. Off hand I can think of conflicts in the email system with the new employee able to access the old employee's emails, the new person getting email intended for the old person, etc. So...to solve the problem and…

  • I've always said that "It's not Christmas until I have Captain Kirk fighting the Gorn hanging from the tree."
  • Two words: "More Coffee."
  • Hi Wade, You can use more than one board in a project, I would suggest using a separate Kanban board as the product backlog and your Scrum board for sprints. Combine that with the triage workflow @Karri Adkins mentions and you;d be set. You could use the Kanban board to work the issues through the triage, on hold, and…
  • TL/DR: I had a bad job with a worse supervisor, made a mess, called the fire department, but still kept the job. My biggest mistake at work isn't a Jira error, or a coding error, or even something I did in an office environment... You see, when I was young and dumb and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life I spent…
  • I think at this stage of your scrum team development adding in vacation stories could create an artificial velocity that, over time, would impact your ability to plant the work the team is able to accomplish over the long term. Instead, keep the velocity based on the true work done over the last three sprints and add a…
  • Yes, I think that makes sense. If your team is regularly hitting the 100 point mark then adding 15 points for the newbie should work well...If they hit the 115 mark right away then bump it up a bit for the next sprint.
  • Hi Sharon, I would suggest that you create a sprint with a smaller velocity to adjust for the person that will be out of the office. I'm assuming, based on your other post, that the team has not been running sprints for more than a year so you don't have sick days, other vacations, or have had the team perform above or…
  • Story points should be based on the team's velocity, not single individuals. If you are concerned that the new guy will reduce the overall velocity of the team then you can either lower the number of points committed to during your sprint planning or keep the points the same for the first sprint with the new guy and, if…
  • I've found Glassdoor to be fairly reliable, or you could search contract agencies near you and see if they have similar roles, what is being offered, etc.
  • Hi @Angelina Elser Welcome to the community! I've only been using Jira for 6 months, so I'm sure you'll fit right in :)

  • Hi Sandra, I have to confess that I'm sitting at home watching a baseball game and enjoying an adult beverage as I type this, so I am away from my Confluence instance and can't test this out for you... The files attached to a page in Confluence are displayed as a hyperlink. You should be able to right-click on the link to…
  • Wow! Just....wow!
  • It just changes the location of the button, and the a6000 has an extra self timer drive mode and (I think...) an extra bracketing mode for depth of field. In this camera the drive mode settings are accessed by pressing the left of the control wheel on the back of the camera and picking the setting you want.
