I like your layout a lot and I may try to replicate it. Nicely done!

Oh man, I got this to work once and now I can't remember all the details! The documentation says "Comma separated list of table ids and/or table numbers (starting at 1) ." Within the Chart macro, you can have more than 1 table. By default, it appears that the Chart macro will chart the data from all the tables within the…

I have this challenge too! One thing I tried was to convert the spreadsheet into a table in MS Word, then highlight the first column and format the text as Heading 1 before trying to import it into Confluence. This process created the new pages all right, and if I recall correctly the information in the other cells…

Hi Jheff, I assume you mean "creating a new page by importing an MS Word document," not "displaying an attached MS Word document within a page." I have noticed that several types of Microsoft "objects" such as charts, Smart Art, etc. are not imported (or not predictably imported) during the MS Word import document process.…

I have the same challenge. This is a common scenario. I've tried using the out-of-the-box row numbering on Confluence tables, and tried merging table cells, but got irregular results. One possibility is the Numbered Headings macro: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/16063/numbered-headings?hosting=cloud&tab=overview…

Wow David that is weird all right. I have been investigating the Word import feature lately. Questions, * Do you know how the images were created? * When you say "small" do you mean file size in KB, or pixel size in dimensions? * What was the http error message you got? * Have you tried both .doc and .docx versions of the…

I realize this thread is old, but I have some questions about this too. I do have a few ideas but I'm sure you've found something Jacob.

If you have access to the Reporting add-on, you can create a report to find all these links. I wrote about doing that here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-articles/Finding-and-fixing-broken-links-with-Reporting-for-mere-mortals/ba-p/1334589

@Jodi LeBlanc Oooh, I might qualify now? By my count I've published 10 or 11 articles since this original post, with upwards of 60 likes (total for all posts). Did I make it?????

Hi Geoff, you may have solved this by now. I have two ideas, one tested, one not. Option 1, on the child page, insert an Excerpt macro and put the TOC macro inside it. In the TOC parameters, check the "Absolute URL" checkbox. On the parent page, insert an Excerpt Include macro and specify the child page. This has worked…

Super, I will work with our system admin to give it a try. BTW I am also in "the other Vancouver." :-)

This looks like just what I need. I see this answer is from 2016. Is this still up to date, we are using Confluence data center.

Just realized this existed! I *think* I might qualify, can someone check? @Monique vdB

I have had a little success with using mail merge to create new cards by email, but I doubt the information would end up where you want it. Still, it's another possibility.

I realize this is an old topic but if you've found a solution I'd like to hear it. Two things that occurred to me when I read your question were 1) the Alias macro from ServiceRocket (free) and 2) shortcut links. I haven't thoroughly researched these yet but perhaps there is some cheese down one of those tunnels?…

This is a followup to my question. I believe this was caused by specifying the output image file name in the macro settings. If this is populated, it seems a refreshed version of the image is generated when someone views the page (I think) which prompts an email notification. To test this I went to the pages in question…

Quite a few, yes. I'm sure some of these are actual bugs, others are just quirks. Things like omitting text after the first heading; image size limits; strange interpretations of code blocks including pipe characters, curly braces and other characters common to wiki markup; overwriting existing pages. I may wait until…

I appreciate this article as I recently worked with someone who used a sequence diagram with numbered steps that corresponded to individual APIs they wanted to track. What suggestions do you have for linking elements of a UML diagram to a specific page of documentation? We are not using plugins like Gliffy or draw.io for…

Hi @Matt Reiner _K15t_ , did you yet write a guide to importing Word docs into Confluence? I started writing one after I discovered some.....quirks......in the process. And yes, I have observed the problem of duplicate/overwriting page titles! Scary!

I recently had a similar situation with sorting in Confluence. I ended up numbering my steps 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 and so on to get them to sort correctly. Not sure how high your numbers go, but you might renumber a few cards with a number format such as 001, 002, 003, and then 019, 020, 021, 022 and so on and see if that…
-
That is true @Steven Rhodes , I used MS Word to strip the formatting and sort the list in alphabetical order. It's true this is a "quick and dirty" technique rather than a more structured query or view.

And "bouncer Taco" is pretty cute!

Ah yes, that was the obvious answer I was missing! Once personal me invited work me to the board, I was able to see the card previews (top). The preview on the bottom comes from a different board that work me doesn't have access to. Now I understand what I'm supposed to be seeing. Thank you!

Thank you so much @Azwandi [ServiceRocket] ! What nice words!
-
@Richard Bouchacourt you are absolutely right. Data is just data until we apply our understanding to get real insights we can act upon!

Hi Jeff, I think that's good detail that will help others answer your questions. I'm not a system-level admin, so speaking from a space admin perspective, a couple things to consider for your overall plan. First, it's possible to run a search to find all instances of a specific macro, in case this function isn't available…

Two options I can think of, there may be others. 1) Use a different plugin 2) Generate the diagram offline, save it as an image, then place the image on the page. (VS Code has some good extensions for this purpose).

The workaround I had been using was to put a heading level 6 just above the panel, and turn it white to become invisible. The small text doesn't create too big of a visual gap between panels. Then I set the TOC to only display heading 6.
-
This solution worked pretty well for me. Thank you for the great example!

Thank you! I appreciate it!
