Why have ONE scrollbar on your Scrum board when you can have SEVEN w/ the horrendous new scroll!

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOUR UX?!!!

WHO thought that it was a good idea to make each column have its own scrollbar?! There is absolutely no designer EVER who would agree that this is a best practice. Now what's happening is that we are MISSING tickets left, right and center because we are not scrolling on an individual column and there's zero indication that there are more cards below the now even SHORTER FOLD.

I cannot express in words or caps how distraught we are with this new AND AGAIN, NOT ANNOUNCED horrendous change that's causing us to miss tickets and struggle to use this interface. PLEASE ALLOW PEOPLE TO TURN IT OFF. IT IS THE WORST. Between this, and changing projects to spaces and returning to the absolutely awful left nav, we are going to Claude code our own version of this as an internal project because this is the last straw. It was already the last straw and now it's even one more straw.

I have been using JIRA for about 20 years and until the last year or two, it was great. Whomever leads your UI/UX needs to be fired along with the entire department.

Too bad that nav methods are changed. I would recommend for you to see if you can be included as beta testers of major changes go into GA from Atlassian - You can reach out to Atlassian Support (https://support.atlassian.com).

I would be interested on your Claude code example in creating your own version for the workaround.

We might use the open source plane project to code on top of so we don't need to deal with all of the security and identity nuances - we have a full staff of engineers - whom I would much prefer to be doing client work, but JIRA is now officially unusable for us, and we need to move off of it in the next year.

We have pretty simple client permissions (one group per client, assigned to each project) and no differentiated permissions internally outside of administration.

We connect to git and harvest and that's it, and we just need a good drag and drop scrum board and list views with filters.

We believe we can build it in about a week (not including testing) but obviously maintaining it and hosting it are bigger aspects to consider, so we are in the planning phase.

We're also evaluating Linear.

Isn't the presence of the scroll bar an indicator that there are more items to see in the column? If the scroll bar is not all the way at the bottom of the column, that's an indicator that there are more items below.

Perhaps my screen looks different than your screen, since changes sometimes are on a roll out plan. Would you consider sharing a screen image of what you see (with confidential information obscured) for comparison?

Have you looked at it on a a Mac? there's no scroll bar unless you hover over the column!

Plus, there's no planet on which a professional UX designer would say it's a good idea to have one scroll PER COLUMN. It's impossible then to see the bottom of two columns at once! and instead of scrolling anywhere on the page you need to move your mouse over the specific column to move it - we have 7 standard columns - it's SEVEN scrolls. and for those of us doing high volume consulting work with 50+ clients and projects, it's a complete nightmare.

Hello Sara,

It sounds like you have legitimate concerns about how the change is impacting your way of working. Have you considered submitting that feedback directly to Atlassian using the Feedback option under the Help button in Jira itself, or escalating to your Jira Admins to submit it as a support ticket?

Note that I'm not trying to debate whether it is good UI/UX. I'm just trying to figure out if my experience is the same as yours.

I am looking at my personal Jira Cloud instance on a Mac (v15.8.1) using Chrome (156.0.8078.80) Incognito. I see a scroll bar in each column. Below is my view for a Scrum board for a Company Managed software project. I have a comparable experience with a Kanban board for a Company Managed software project.

On a side note about announcing the change, at the top of the community pages you will find a link for Release Notes. I went there, filtered the list by Jira (for App), and found information about this change in this announcement:

And I am totally empathetic to how difficult it is to keep up with the many changes that are deployed by Atlassian. I think I remember seeing the above announcement, but I certainly didn't remember anything about it until I saw your post.
