JIRA Upgrade without indexing

in our Jira instance it is required to do the indexing for few minor changes, is it safe to upgrade the Jira version without indexing. we are planning to upgrade the database version also. currently we are using sql server v2008 and plan to upgrade v2013

But it is always recommanded to have the reindexing as major changes takes place after upgrade

Hi @ihanif,

When upgrading JIRA, an automated re-index happens. But you can disable it by following steps

* Edit or create <jira-home>/jira-config.properties
* Add the line upgrade.reindex.allowed=false.
* To save further time, you may also want to add the line jira.autoexport=false to disable the automatic export that is generated as part of the upgrade process.
* Restart JIRA before your upgrade to ensure the properties are picked up.
