Unable to access confluence after Restore Err: Sorry, a network error occurred trying to log you in.

Question

Our Confluence license expires on Dec25th and we have renewed the license on a new server and we had to move the existing data to the new server.

I took the data backup from the old server and restored it on the new server. The restore was 100%complete and then I found out that I am not able to login to the new server even using my admin credentials.

I got the error as below. Please help.

* Sorry, a network error occurred trying to log you in. Please try again, and contact your administrator if the problem persists.

I want to now access the new server and have a few questions as below. Please let know:

1) how I can access the new server now. Need steps to reset the config or Admin username&passwords to login.

2 On restoration, does the existing data gets erased?

3 What will happen to my data, once the license expires on the server. Will I still be able to access confluence and my data?

Hi Brant,

Thanks much. I tried #1, but however I updated my setenv.sh as below. Any insight on how I could further update the setenv.sh file and get my access back to confluence would be of much help.

Sanjay,

1)  I am assuming that you are not using Confluence to manage your users so you need to perform some configuration on the application to get it authentication working again.  You can follow the steps here to setup a local admin account.  Once you have this setup you will be able to login and troubleshoot the authentication issues for your other accounts. https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/restore-passwords-to-recover-admin-user-rights-158390.html

2 ) Depending on what type of restore you did the data was most likely erased.

3) You old instance of confluence will continue to work after your license expires you will not be able to upgrade to newer versions.
