User Picker Custom Field Avatar Size

Question

We have a problem where the User Picker Custom Fields are showing the default system avatars SO large that users can't see the name of the user they are trying to find and calling us saying people aren't in a field even though they are, but they can't see the name because the darn avatar is so ridiculously big, but for some users who have uploaded their own avatar it is tiny and next to the name.  Is there a way to change this setting so that the avatar shows up tiny and not HUGE

I'm still trying to recreate this. I have the same versions now (service desk 3.12.2), but I still can't seem to recreate this in the customer portal.  I can see user avatars, but they are very small in my environment.

When I right click on this avatar and go to inspect properties, I can see this specific snippet of HTML code:

I am interested to see if you can do the same.  I'd like to see what URL is being referenced here?  Does it contain the '?size=xsmall' parameter in the end or not?  Also the <img tag has a class in my system of

Curious if something else in your system might be modifying any of this HTML code to cause this strange rendering.  I noticed your screenshot seems to have an office location field.  Is that perchance being added by the insight plugin to Jira?  It is possible your Jira instance might have a plugin installed that might inadvertantly be modifying the HTML code as it appears on this page to cause this strange avatar problem.  But without disabling each user plugin one by one, it's really difficult to figure out which plugin might be responsible for this, if any.

I also have not found any other reports of this behavior yet.  So I don't know this to be a bug just yet.   I am still interested to learn more about this problem.  Please let me know.

This is appearing in the Service Desk Portal Screen.  Its not just the "Raise on behalf of" user picker.  It's any user picker field that we add.  We are using JIRA Server 7.12.2 and JIRA Service Desk 3.12.2.  It looks the same way whether I use Edge or Firefox.  I have attached more screen shots.

I can't seem to recreate this problem yet.  In my 7.12.3 Jira with Service Desk 3.15.3, I can add custom fields of type user picker, but in my testing, the custom user picker fields don't show user avatars at all. Only the system fields like reporter, assignee, and request participant appear to do this.

I also don't recognize the specific screen you are showing in your screenshots here.   Would be possible to provide a full page screenshot to give me a better idea of how you have this configured?

I would be interested to learn more about your environment, such as versions of jira, specific browser types/versions (IE, firefox, Chrome, etc).
