How can prevent all users from seeing all projects via the settings cogwheel?

I have followed the guides for limiting access via permissions schemes. However, when testing, I find that any user I set up, even prior to assigning them to a project, can click on the setting cogwheel, then projects and see a list of all projects. I have looking in global permissions, but cannot seem to find anything that would be applicable to this problem.

Hi,

Can you look in User management that your users are not in jira-administrator group. Look at your permission scheme that the users are not in thr browse project permission.

Thank you for your time! My test user is only in the jira-software-users group. There are no Permissions Schemes associated with this group.

Firstly I'd check under System > Project Roles

Click on Manage Default Members for Users.

Check you haven't got jira-software-users group under the default groups?

That will give them access to all projects created.

Also, check under the Roles for each project listed. Is jira-software-users mentioned anywhere?

@Linck Schlich - Also check your default permission scheme (or any permission scheme used by the projects visible to any new users).

What's under the Browse permission? If it's jira-software-users that would be the reason they would see all projects.

Interestingly, there is no role of "user". As far as I can tell, the only group my TEST user is a part of is "jira-software-users" and that group. And that group seems to have no attributes:

Permission Schemes	There are no Permission Schemes associated with this Group.
Notification schemes	There are no Notification Schemes associated with this Group.
Issue Security Schemes	There are no Issue Security Schemes associated with this Group.
Saved Filters	There are no Saved Filters associated with this Group.

In the default permission scheme, that group is not listed for anything.

I also checked global permissions, and that group is not listed there for anything.

I am stuck. Again, thank you for your time.
