How do I copy an existing board and set it up so it doesn't affect the original board?

I have copied an existing board for a new project and changed the filter so that it reflects the new project. However, this then affects the board for the existing project and deletes the issues that should be in the original board. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong!

Boards do not contain separate issues. They are a view of a selection of issues. If you do something to an issue via one board, it's going to be shown on all the other boards that display that issue, because there is only one issue behind the boards.

Have a look at the two board's filters - the easiest solution is probably going to be to make them exclusive. So if the original board filter says something like "Project in (ABC, DEF, GHI)", then change that to "Project in (ABC, DEF)" and the filter in the copied board to "Project = GHI").

That will make the boards be looking at totally separate lists of issues, so changes on one board won't affect the other.

you probably used the same saved filter in both boards, so if you change the query, it is being changed in both boards.

Try to change to query and save it as a new filter. Use this filter for your new board and the other board should not be affected by that changes.

Yes it's definitely something to do with the filters but I'm still having problems!

Let's call the new project B and the old project A. The saved filter for project A is now saying it's a filter for the project B board, but is based on a filter query for project A so is pulling through the correct issues.

When I then look at project B, the title of the filter is correct but it's based on a filter query for project A so is pulling through the wrong issues. If I change it to be based on project B, it then shows the right issues but when I go back to project A, that is then showing the wrong issues.

The problem seems to be that I can't change the 'Saved Filter'?

I've sorted it! I've figured out how to add a new filter and changed so that the projects are using the right filters.

I have had the same issue. Say you have one project with multiple boards and want to use separate filters for each board. How do you do this? Every time one filter changes on one board, it produces the same filter on all the other boards.

Filters are necessary. In the instance of a kanban board, I would go to board settings, general and filter, and look for the Kanban board sub-filter field. Update this the with logic to only include the issues you want based on some field.
