Is it true that the summary field is the link to open a issue and edit or add data? Is there any reason why i cant make another field to have that same capability?
Other questions is if i can customize the Summary field to change the name?

You can't change the name of the Summary field, and you can't have an issue without the summary field filled out.
I think you're referring to the search interface, where the issue ID and the Summary become links; if that's right, there's no other way to change the field that becomes a hyperlink.

But a summary will always be required. Even if you populated it through a postfunction, it will still need to be set, and it will always be shown on the issue details page.
@Josh Stecklerofcourse, but he can write a JavaScript that will manipulate the summary, hide it and set a default value in the summary. then set the field value base on another field on the screen, this is best he can get.
