Embedded Database and End of Life query on JIRA Self Hosted Server

Question

We have a licensed JIRA and Bitbucket server we signed up with in August last year. I am the main support contact for JIRA within the company. I have been receiving 2 warnings recently. Embedded database issue and End of life.

The embedded database issue we cannot do anything about as our SQL License is only for 2008 R2 and JIRA Server only supports SQL Server 2012 and above. My 2 questions are:

* Is it ok to continue with the embedded database? Or should we look at an alternative like MYSQL maybe for now, as our current version of SQL is not one of JIRA’s supported platforms
* The end of life error we keep getting, is this something to be concerned about, if
 so, please advise what I should do

Hi Mirek, thanks so much for the feedback, I am looking at the MYSQL option for now and will look at installing a later version of JIRA as well on our server. Thanks

If you run a production instance you should not use an embedded database since it is not so effective. MySQL should be fine. Later you can probably migrate if you need to. As for End of Life it means that even you have a valid license and maintenance you would not get support in case of problem with your instance (excluding problems with upgrade to a newer version that is not end of life). Instance will however work as it is now. Not need to worry that suddenly it will stop working.
