Copy board without linking issues

Question

I'm trying to find a way to set up a template project/board to use for future new projects. The process so far is something like this:

1. Create a new project and set the template to shared configuration with the template project.

2. List all boards and copy the empty template board within the Template project.

3. In the settings of the copied board change the name and location to the new project "Example".

So now I've got a new blank board with the same configuration as the template. However, my issue is that if I create an issue within the "Example" board, the issue also appears on the "Template" board. So the 2 boards are still linked. Is there any way to make a copy of a board and add it to a new project without it linking to the old project as well?

I am having this same issue, I am trying to create a new board but all the issues are copying over from the 1st board I created. I just need a blank board that will only show issues I created for that board.

Hi Maria,

I suspect that the reason this is happening is because the filter in the "example" board hasn't been changed to use the new project.

1. Navigate to Issues > Search for issues

2. Perform an advanced JQL search of project = <example_project_key> ORDER BY Rank ASC

3. Save the filter as "Filter for Example Board"

4. Navigate to the board settings of Example Board and change the filter to use the new filter created in the previous step.

Do issues created in your example board still show up in the template board after this change?
