As per my knowledge workflows can be created and mapped with respect to issue types. Is there any possibility to map workflows with respect to component?
Workflows are only mapped to Issues, but what you can do is use a combination of Conditions, Validators and Post-functions to build paths through a workflow that are dependent on the value of the Component field. You may need to use ScriptRunner to support some aspects of this with custom Groovy scripts.

The only option to use component into WF - use build-in postfunction to for assign. In this case issue will be assigned to assigne of a component.
Since compoenents could be easily changed and workflow change is diffucult process (first of all there are different sets of statuses and how map status to status change is a hard question).
If assign is not enough for you it seems that it is better to use projects instead of components to map workflows.
