JIRA Cloud - Can I set up a deadline for an issue "now + two weeks"?

Hi all,

I am a bit under time pressure, hence didn't do extensive research on the subject and just decided to throw in the question here.

Is this scenario possible (for Cloud):

I move ticket between statuses on a board and by moving the issue/transitioning it I automatically set up a deadline for this issue "two weeks in the future". Meaning that the transition always starts and the moment/day of transitions and sets a deadline for two weeks. The deadline would be different for most issues as issue would moved on various days.

 

IS that possible? Is that how issue scheduling can be applied? Or can this be set up with a post-function?

To my knowledge, this is only achievable by writing a script to update the field with a date calculator using the ScriptRunner for Jira third-party plugin.

However, if you're simply looking for the Due date field to be set this indeed achievable.

There are different ways of going about this but the most effective I can recommend are:

• 1. Add a Validator to the transition.
  In the transition of the workflow, you can add a Validator rule so that it checks if the field has been set (with the option of adding a nice error message). You will need the Field Required Validator for this. Once this is added you will also have to include the Due date field in the Screens, otherwise, this could cause some blocks in the transition.

• 2. Modify the field behaviour of the Due date field.
  By making the field Required and adding it the Screens being used, this will trigger to pop-up Issue view, forcing the user to add a value to this field.
