Users logging into Confluence multiple times to access different spaces

Question

We use Confluence as our company intranet and a place to store technical documentation.

I have had feedback from users that when they move from one space to another, they are required to log in again. This is frustrating for them, and means they consider Confluence difficult to navigate.

Why is this happening? Any way I can make it easier? I haven't encountered this problem myself.

I had a look at my settings (unmodified default):

60

COOKIE

This means, after 60 minutes of inactivity the session is deleted. See also Default session timeout for Apache Tomcat applications. What's your setting?

It says that the default session timeout is 5 hours - my users are being prompted to log in again after only a few minutes? It is only happening when they try to go to another space.
