Unable to load boards in JIRA Software

Hello,

We recently installed JIRA software, and would like to configure our custom Kanban board. Whenever we go to Boards > View all boards, it brings us to the loading page but never moves from there. Assuming something is stuck on the backend? We just see the icon spin and spin.

We also attempted to access the boards config from the upper-right hand corner menu.

Confirming we are hosting this ourselves via Digital Ocean.

Just wanted to circle back to this case. We found in the $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file the following exception:

Caused by: com.atlassian.activeobjects.internal.ActiveObjectsSqlException: There was a SQL exception thrown by the Active Objects library:
Database:
 - name:MySQL
 - version:5.7.20-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
 - minor version:7
 - major version:5
 - name:MySQL Connector Java
 - version:mysql-connector-java-5.1.45 ( Revision: 9131eefa398531c7dc98776e8a3fe839e544c5b2 )
com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLSyntaxErrorException: REFERENCES command denied to user 'jirauser'@'localhost' for table 'AO_60DB71_RAPIDVIEW'

This is a common error to see in new Jira installs using MySQL 5.7.6 or higher. We have a good KB that also explains this in com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLSyntaxErrorException: REFERENCES command denied to user - Atlassian Documentation as well as steps on how to resolve this.

I was able to confirm with Mark that the steps in this KB were able to help fix this problem.

Hi Mark,

I suspect that something did not start up correctly in your Jira instance in regards to a plugin, but this is really difficult to troubleshoot without looking at the logs. And since our community site does not really have a good way to post log files at this time, I created a support request to gather some more data from you about this problem. I'm having the same problem after going to my kanban board settings and moving the issues from Todo In progress and done to the backlog. It's annoying that you cant just create a new blank board with out any issues associated.

I heavily doubt you are having the same issue. The above is a technical issue - what you have seems something different. But trying to understand your problem still and to give some backround: All boards are related to Projects - so the project tickets are related to the boards with corresponding status', so if you don't put any settings to your board, you will see the project tickets. But you should try to find answer from elsewhere - you can always post your own question if you cannot find the answer from the forums. With more details preferably.
