error when commenting

Question

When I go to comment I get the error following error:

The Jira server could not be contacted. This may be a temporary glitch or the server may be down.

Close this dialog and press refresh in your browser

Does anyone know why this is?

Hi James,

This sounds like it could be a configuration issue or a network issue.  If you are using nginx, there is a known issue with Nginx version 0.7.65.  You can find more information about this at Communication Breakdown error on issue comment due to Nginx proxy.  If you are using nginx 0.7.65, please upgrade to the latest version and make sure the GZIP compression is enabled.  As a temporary workaround you can disable the keepalive in Nginx side.

If you are using a proxy and not nginx, try bypassing the proxy to see if you still get the same behavior.

Another issue could be related to Firefox 46.0.1. There is an open bug that relates to this behavior that you can find at JRACLOUD-60992 and JRASERVER-60992.  If you are using Firefox and can work around this using another browser please vote on both of those issues to add impact.
