Hi, how does one create a cross-project JIRA board in v7.1.2?

Save a filter for "project in (list of projects)" and create a board, selecting your saved filter as the source.

I'm gonna need a little more info than that please Not sure I understand.

I'm not sure I can expand on "search for issues you want on the board, save the filter, go to create board and answer the question it asks about what issues you want to use by selecting the filter you saved"

That's different than you previous answer so that only muddied the waters.

@Audra Bonacki, as Nic was saying you simply create a filter such as...

project in (ABC, 123, 7F6,...)
save the filter
Go to Boards > View all boards
Create board
choose the type of board (kanban or scrum)
chose Board from an existing Saved Filter radio button
enter the filter name
finish up the steps
