Delete issue event doesn't fire an in-app notification

1. Running Jira v7.1.4 and Bug Watcher Notifications 3.1.3-JIRA7. I'm using the same notification scheme for both in app and email notifications. When I delete an issue, I get an email but no in-app notification. Internet searches on this topic have thus far not been fruitful. It's possible to explicitly allow issue delete events to generate issue deleted notifications as a project watcher and also to explicitly set notification style to in-app only. I've done that and even made myself a watcher of the issue. After deleting the issue, I get an email and no in-app notification. Note that every other activity for which notifications are enabled through the scheme DO generate in-app notifications as well as email. The event view for the project doesn't show issue delete events. Is this normal and/or related?
