Inviting users to register Confluence

Question

Hello,

Recently there was a change in the way invites arrive to users.

Up untill few weeks ago, a user would receive an invite from Confluence to follow a link, where he would enter a desired password and that's it.

Today, when the user is following the link to register, he's asked to enter his user name (email address) and a verification code (??) which is never actually accepted.

To resolve this I need to creat a user and a password manually myself, rather then just send an invite.

What has chnaged?? why can't users just follow the invite and register like before??

Thanks for the information that you’ve provided to me!

I’ve checked that there is an open bug of Atlassian OnDemand Confluence Only:

Groups and users without activity cannot be deleted from Confluence-only OnDemand instances

It’s marked a major issue, I suggest as you add yourself as watcher and vote on it, you’ll be notified when it update.

And Here is the workaround for the moment:

Workaround

* Deactivate users by removing all groups and application access from the user to free up required license.
* Deactivate a group by removing all users from it and removing it from all permissions.

This issue is hapenning for each user I create: I send an invitation, the user follows the link to register then asked to type his email address and a captcha (whic is never accepted). Its like something is wrong with my administrator privilages. The thing is that something has changed in general. All administration intreface has changed. Usually to remove a user I would go to user management, remove the user from all groups and disable. Today – I don't have the 'Disable' option. When I try to delete I get: kellyf cannot be deleted because of the following problems Please resolve the following application references. Any idea? Thank you

Hi Roee,

A common thing is that the code is expired, the code will only be valid for 24 hours after the user creation.

To troubleshooting, avoiding any browser related issue on the password creation moment I’ll suggest to create a new user by yourself and check if you can reproduce this behaviour too.

If its possible to reproduce the error on your machine, I would recommend to open an Atlassian Support Ticket to further look on it before you change manually the password, provide to the support engineer the both account (user account and test account used to test it).
