The space I have for issues in JIRA does not allow me to add images to my comments.

Attach the image to the issue first, then use this guide to include it in the comment.

I don't understand what you mean by "attach the image". The page does not have an "attach" field anywhere?! Pasting of a picture is possible in confluence pages but not in JIRA?!

You need to enable the attachments field in the screen for the issue.
Do you have "Create Attachments" Permissions in the Project?
