Is it possible to change the color on the cards and so that the card changes color when it changes column?

Just a try:

• configure your board
• choose Card colors
• select "Queries" from "Colors based on"
• pickup the desired color from color picker
• try e.g. "status in (New, Open)" as JQL statement
• "Add" configuration
• repeat for further colors and status combinations
