Database not appearing in Public Link

Question

I have a database that I'd like to make available via public link.  But when I open the public link with the database on it, I'm seeing a bunch of code instead of the table:

Is this expected behavior?

* Atlassian’s own limitations page lists anonymous access as unsupported for databases. Atlassian’s list of unsupported database features includes anonymous access, and the option to share a database publicly isn’t in the sharing sheet the way it is for pages. atlassianatlassian
* Embedding a database in a page doesn’t get around this. A community answer confirms you can share the page publicly, but the database won’t be viewable by anyone who doesn’t have access to it directly. atlassian
* There is an open feature request for this: CONFCLOUD-78477, “Provide ability to share Confluence Databases with Anonymous users or Public Links”. It has only a handful of votes and no assignee. atlassian

As the guys have already mentioned, Confluence databases don't currently support public links or anonymous access. I think I stumbled on this a while back and I'm not particularly happy about it 😅

In the meantime, you could maybe consider these alternatives:

* Guest access: If you only need to share the database with specific external users, you could invite them as Confluence Guests. 
* Regular Confluence tables: If the goal is to make the data publicly available, you could copy it into a regular table on a Confluence page and enable a Public Link. Of course, you'd lose the interactive database functionality, but it might do the trick for read-only access.
