Set list view default query and fields

Question

Hi all,

Is there a way to, on a Jira Software, set Saved views for the list view where we would be able not only save the JQL that we are using on that  view but all the fields as well?

I am able to save the JQL, but I don't believe it is saving the fields I have added.

The two replies above point at two different mechanisms, and you can tell which one you have in a minute.

Test: change a column, then open the same list in a private window or a second browser while logged in. If your change is there, it is saved to your account or the view. If not, it is only local to that browser.

If you are a space admin, the shared version is saved via the view menu (Save or reset view settings > Save list), as Ciro described. Other people then see those fields, and their own column changes stay personal until they reset.

If you are not a space admin, you can still save the JQL as a filter, but the saved view's columns will keep the admin's version.

Hey @joao zampa ,

If we're talking about columns in List view these should be stored in your browser's local storage (mainly) rather than on the server. That would mean that they'll probably reset when you log out or clear your cache.

Note that I haven't played around with this in detail to be 100% sure 🫤

Anyway, do you need to save that for yourself, for other team members or something else? What's the current behavior when you refresh the page, log out, etc.?

Hello,

Fields are part of a saved view, together with the filters, grouping and display settings. The catch is who saves it: only space admins can save the shared version. If you aren't a space admin in that space, your column changes stay in your personal working state and the saved view keeps its original fields.

As a space admin, set the JQL, add the fields under Configure columns, then go to Save or reset view settings > Save list. Everyone else can then open that view, and their own changes don't overwrite it (they can use Reset to get back to it).

If you're already a space admin there and the fields still don't stick, that sounds like a bug worth reporting.
