Jira Cloud: treat the due date as inclusive on the board

Question

We use a team-managed software project in Jira Cloud.

When a task's due date is today, its board card already shows the red overdue warning. We need the deadline to include the entire due day. For example, a task due on 13 October should become overdue on 14 October, not on 13 October.

Is there a supported setting to change this boundary or remove only the overdue warning while keeping the actual due date visible on the board?

We want to keep the existing Due date field. Hiding the date, adding a duplicate field, or moving the deadline one day forward would not meet our needs. List-view format rules and JQL filters do not change the board warning. Our timezone is Europe/Prague.

We found JRACLOUD-92594, which is closed as "Timed out". Is this still a product limitation, a known bug, or is there a current supported solution for team-managed boards?

Hi @m.automation, great write-up. @Mihai_LeanZero nailed it: there's no setting to make the due date inclusive or hide just the overdue warning.

Your best lever is JRACLOUD-99245, an open bug about "due today" showing as overdue. It only mentions the issue view right now, so a vote plus a quick comment (with a screenshot) saying board cards do the same thing would really help get it scoped properly. Atlassian fixed a similar off-by-one before (JRACLOUD-84761), so it's worth pushing.

Also worth a quick check that your profile time zone matches your site's, just to rule that out.

Open bug, by the look of it. JRACLOUD-99245 covers a due date set to today showing "(overdue)" where the expected result is "Due today". Raised 20 August 2026, still in Gathering Impact with 0 votes, no known workaround listed.

Its title only names the work item view. A card due today on a team-managed test board got the same red icon and "(overdue)" tooltip, so matching the board to that ticket is my reading and not Atlassian's wording.

No setting for it that turned up. View settings only let each person show or hide Due date on their own cards, and JRACLOUD-92594 was a suggestion closed for inactivity, it wasn't declined or fixed.

Probably the useful move is a vote and a watch on 99245, plus a comment that team-managed board cards show it too.

This is a Jira Limitation in simple terms - something Jira Service Management solves with SLA's.

You have a number options open to you - but all become "configuration bloat" by definition.

The only thing that comes to mind that you may want to use is the "Flagged" feature.

Not sure if automation can trigger this on due date - but it would make the card louder and obvious that its overdue.

Flagged is a binary switch however - other than highlighting it won't do much more than that.

An another possibility is employing labels or components.

Other options would require adding custom fields/workflow changes that may be a little too much - but if your not opposed - you have only the sky as the limit.
