A request to sign off on something can come from any project: a request for a new laptop needs approval in one, a finished user story needs sign-off from both QA and the business partner who requested it in another, a go/no-go decision on a release needs approval in a third. Ask a team "who's still waiting on a decision right now" and the honest answer is often "let me check a few places." An approver added to work across several different projects has no single view of everything sitting in their queue, just a scattering of separate notifications across email, Slack, comments or wherever else they happen to land.
The requester side has the mirror problem. They know they asked for sign-off, but ask them how many people they're still waiting on across everything they've submitted, and there's no single place with the answer. The overall approval status is a searchable Jira field, so a dashboard filter can tell you which issues you reported are still awaiting a decision. What it can't tell you, since that detail lives only in the app's own records, is who hasn't decided and how long the request has been waiting, rolled up across every project at once. Before these gadgets existed, answering that meant opening issues one at a time.
Two gadgets, one source of truth
Business Sign-off & Approval for Jira (BSO) ships two gadgets that put those two views directly on a Jira dashboard.
My Approval Queue
Know exactly what's waiting on you. My Approval Queue is the approver's view: every active issue, across every project, where you've been added as an approver. Your own decision status sits right there (added, pending, approved, or returned), alongside how many approvers have decided (approved or returned) out of the total, so a glance tells you whether your decision is the one still missing, or whether other approvers haven't decided either.
My Approval Requests
See where every request stands, down to each approver. My Approval Requests is the mirror: it surfaces every issue you reported or are assigned to that has approvals attached - filterable to the ones still open, the ones sent back to you, or the ones fully approved.
Each request shows its overall BSO status and how many approvers have decided (approved or returned) out of the total. Expand any request to see each approver by name, where their decision stands, and how many days each undecided approver has been waiting, so you know exactly who is holding things up, not just that someone is.
A plain Jira filter tells you an approval is still open. These gadgets tell you who's holding it and for how long, for everything you're waiting on and everything waiting on you. If you're still asking who's holding things up, try both gadgets in Business Sign-off & Approval for Jira, from Cahaba Forge, on the Atlassian Marketplace.
