ScriptRunner for Confluence and dedicated Confluence bulk content management tools can both help administrators manage and automate Confluence content, but they take different approaches.

ScriptRunner is designed around scripting and automation. It is designed for administrators and requires Groovy scripting expertise to interact with the Confluence REST API. It can provide considerable flexibility when a task requires custom logic or is not available as a bulk action. But creating and maintaining scripts requires strong technical knowledge and the administrator needs to understand the relevant Confluence APIs, scripting environment and permissions.

Dedicated Confluence bulk content management tools provide pre-built interfaces for bulk content editing. Depending on the app, these can include bulk find and replace, bulk label management, page status changes, page owner management, attachment management, page moves, and other bulk editing operations.
