Hey everyone,
I built a CLI tool called ajat (Atlassian Jira Automation Tool) to help with Jira Automation Rule administration.
If your team relies heavily on Jira Automation for critical processes, you've probably run into the visibility problem: it's hard to track exactly what actions are being triggered, who changed them, who owns which rule, or just how tangled the logic has gotten.
Plus, if you're in a regulated environment (ISO 9001, 27001, etc.), you need actual backup and restore procedures for your Business Continuity Plan.
ajat solves this. It handles incremental or sync backup/restores, auditing, searching, and comparing. It also generates five self-contained HTML reports based on your backups:
- Collision -> Finds overlapping and behaviorally-duplicate rules.
- Consistency -> Audits label hygiene, naming, ownership, and consistency.
- Inventory -> Catalogs every automation rule by scope.
- Risk -> Scores governance and operational risk across your setup.
- Workflow -> Renders every rule as a visual flow-diagram runbook.
I set up a fully functional 14-day trial over at climakers.com so people can actually test it out. No credit card required, just an email.
If you decide not to use it after the 14 days, nothing happens—you still get to keep all the local backups and HTML reports you generated, no strings attached.
I'd love for you to try it out and let me know what you think, or if you have any feature requests!
Here you can see some examples of use and it's commands
EXAMPLES

ajat report inventory --input-dir ./jira-automations-backup --output-file inventory.html
# Score governance & operational risk (unowned, silent-failing, …).
ajat report risk --input-dir ./jira-automations-backup --output-file risk.html
# Find overlapping and duplicated rules.
ajat report collision --input-dir ./jira-automations-backup --output-file collision.html
# Compare two backups to see exactly what changed.
