Cannot find webhooks after upgrading to jira version 11.3.8.

When upgrading jira to version 11.3.8 we cannot find webhooks option. 

I am trying to transit in a workflow that is using webhook, and I get the below error: 

 

"Could not load FunctionProvider class

It seems that you have tried to perform an illegal workflow operation.

If you think you shouldn't get this message, please contact your Jira administrators."

 

Is there a way to enable webhooks?

From what I understand, there have been some architectural changes between versions, especially when it comes to Jira 10 and 11 platforms. For webhooks specifically, starting with Jira 10.0.0, we're mainly talking about asynchronous webhooks.

Can you check this (note, you need to be Jira admin):

1. Navigate to Administration (⚙) > System.

2. Under the Advanced section in the left panel, look for Webhooks.

3. If the option is still missing, it is possible the system Workflow Plugin was disabled during the upgrade. You can re-enable it by going to Administration (⚙) > Manage apps, selecting All apps, and enabling the Workflow Plugin

As for workflows specifically, you could try the following manual fix:

1. Go to Project Settings > Workflows and Edit the affected workflow.

2. Select the transition causing the error and click on Post Functions.

3. Identify any "Unknown" or "Invalid" functions and remove them.

4. Re-add the webhook functionality using the native Jira webhook options or a compatible app.

Just to confirm, are you using only native webhooks or potentially some functionalities from third-party apps such as ScriptRunner or other workflow extension apps?
