JIRA Automation and Rovo - Issue with generating a Rovo response

Hi all.

I am create an automation that is scheduled

When that automation runs, I want a prompt to be sent to rovo and the rovo response to be sent as an email and published as a confluence page.

When I trigger the automation during a test, the confluence page is created and the email is sent but the content of both reads

"This action cannot access the internet or real-time data. For live web search, use a Rovo Agent with web search capability instead."

This is odd because when I first set up the automation, the rovo response did create an output so the issue seems sporadic. I have tried to switch the automation to using an agent instead but this generates no content (not even the error message above)

Hi Chris, could you please share a screenshot of your automation rule? That would be helpfull.

Are you using {{agentResponse}} on the email acction step?

My piece of advice is that you always share more details when publishing a question here

Thanks for reaching out. There are some parts of the flow I can not share due to company policy but I have tried two routes

ROUTE 1

Trigger: The eventual trigger with be a scheduled automation however for testing, its a manual trigger

Then: Use Rovo (Beta)

I then enter a large prompt into the prompt box

Then: Create Confluence page

I set the page and space
The content I set as {{rovoResponse}}

Then: Send Custom Email

I set the recipient
The content I set as {{rovoResponse}}

RESULT - The confluence page is created with the correct name and in the correct space and the email is sent. The content of both reads "This action cannot access the internet or real-time data. For live web search, use a Rovo Agent with web search capability instead."

Note - When I first set up the automation, the result did generate the content I was after so the issue seems sporadic

Canc you share some of the promt at least? removing the sensitive data maybe? that will be super usefull to replicete your issue and helping you

I forgot to mentioned that if you use {{agentResponse}} you need to select the Use Agent instead of Use Rovo.

Is there an agent that you could use for your prompt? I'm curious why did you chose the rovo one instead of the agent

Having similar issue. Trigger on new ticket in Jira project -> Use Rovo -> send email. Use Rovo prompt:

You are a bug triage assistant. A new Jira issue has been created in the FLBUGS project. Please analyse the following bug report and provide:
1. A triage analysis of the issue severity and impact
2. Recommendations for the team (e.g. priority level, components affected, suggested fix approach)
3. Suggested sprint placement (e.g. current sprint, next sprint, or backlog)

Use Rovo and Teamwork graph search across all available source, especially Jira, Confluence, Github. Include relevant links in report.

Summary: {{issue.summary}}
Description: {{issue.description}}

@Chris Hampshire @Stephen Kelley I think the key is the Use Rovo vs Use Rovo agent boundary. Use Rovo can only work with data passed into its prompt via smart values—it cannot independently search Jira, Confluence, GitHub or the web. For that, use an agent with the appropriate read/search skills and {{agentResponse}}. If the agent response is blank, check its debug/audit log to see which skills ran and where it failed.
