Issues in right most column, "Done" status, and Resolution: Done, still moved to next sprint in Jira

Hello, my issues in Jira are being moved to the next sprint even though they are in "Done" status, in the right most column, have Resolution: Done, and have no subtasks. Does anyone know why this may be or how I can prevent them from showing up in the current sprint?

Hi Jolique,

Do you have an example or screenshot of one it is happening to? What is the status of the one being moved?

You need to check two things:

Do the work item that are moving to the next sprint and have a resolution assigned to them when they move to the done or cancelled status. If they do not then they will move.
If the work item is associated with a parent work item that is not closed and is moved to a new sprint all of the closed work items that are under the parent item will also move. An example of this would be a story that has tasks and sub-tasks under it. All of the closed work items will move with it until it is closed.

1. the resolution shown on the issues is "Done", can you give me an example of how it would be moved to done status without a resolution?

2. They are no subtasks or parent items in any of the issues but some are associated with an epic that is still in progress, would that impact it at all?

Hmm, check the workflow to see if there are multiple/duplicate post functions that set the resolution or perform another function in the transition to done.

Thats strange! Can you go to the Board Settings → Columns and confirm your "Done" column is mapped to a status in the Done *category* (not just named "Done").
