Cloning a private repo through Bitbucket website

Question

Hello,
I am trying to clone a private repository that I have no problem accessing when I'm logged in.
But when I am entering my user name and password in the dialog boxes (in "Import existing code") I get that the authentication failed.
Is there something specific that needs to be done? is there a different password for that process?

Thanks for the update.

As mentioned earlier, you need to use your username and API token to authenticate the repository import. Generate an API token and enter your username and API token in the password field to proceed with the import.

Thank you very much.

So I am trying to start a new repository, copying an existing private one to go into it.
So I am logged in to bitbucket, I press create --> Repository, in the Dialog that opens I press on "Import repository" and I check "Requires authorization".
Here filling the URL of the existing repo, my username and password but it never authorizes it.

Welcome to the community.

If I understand correctly, you want to import a repository into your Workspace. Is the repository public? If it is, you won't need to authenticate to import it.

However, if it's private, you'll need to use your credentials, like an API token, just as you would when cloning the repository locally.
