Team members are unable to change assignee

Project lead is set to default assignee, and other team members are unable to access the change assignee drop down. It seems locked.

We are able to edit the issue ie.status, add sub tasks, add comments etc.... only change assignee option is disabled.

Assigning an item is a separate permission from editing items.

You should check the permission scheme of the project and look for the "Assign issue" permission. Only users/roles/groups with that permission can change the assignee.

Note: there is also an "assignable user" permissions. This defines which users can be assigned to items.

@Feier Welcome to the community!

First of all you need to update/remove the Defautl assignee (for Cloud - project settings -> Details page) and (for DC - Project settings --> users and roles page).

Once you update this, please check the project permission --> Assign Issues permission. And to change the work item assignee you need to have this permission.

Note: To do this you must need project admin/jira admin permission.

If no one can update the field make sure the Assignee field is on the Edit screen used by the project.
