How to redirect URL for JSD Customer Portal

Hello,

I have an instance running on Windows. I have this extremely long http://xyzjira.xyz.com:8080/servicedesk/customer/portals/X URL for the customer portal. I would like to make this shorter somehow, preferably using IIS.

I have read the article here but it's explaning the case when you want to integrate JIRA to another URL such as myintranet.company.com/JIRA etc. This is NOT what I need.

What I would like to do is to have a URL such as "jira.xyz.com/customers" or "jira.xyz.com:8080/customers" to "jira.xyz.com:8080/servicedesk/customer/portals/X "

Has anyone done this before?

Yes I agree that's probably extremely easy to do but I wanted to see if there's any important "gotchas" related to JIRA itself. It's prety much explained here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/324000

I don't have a testing system for JIRA and it's busy all the time. I don't really want to experiment but I get your point.

This is an extremely common tactic... So what's the problem? Use IIS to redirect to a new URL. IIS has the typical redirect and rewriting abilities expected of web servers so this isn't really difficult.

I'd imagine few people here are experts at using IIS so you're probably asking the wrong community.
